Supported Applications

The Omega NW HOR and NW HORB Series are industrial circulation heaters designed for medium, heavy, and fuel oil applications. These units feature a carbon steel pipe body with ANSI B-16.5 blind flange construction (3 to 14") rated at 150 lb pressure.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports power ratings from 3 to 120 kW, available in configurations for 240 and 480V with single or three-phase circuits. Heaters utilize 0.475" diameter steel sheath elements operating at a low watt density of 12 to 15 W/in². A side-mounted AR thermostat option is available for temperature control ranging from 60 to 250°F.

Construction materials include ASTM A53B carbon steel pipe and an end disk made of ASTM A516 Grade 70 carbon steel plate. The housing consists of a painted sheet metal jacket with thermal insulation.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable terminal enclosures to suit different environmental requirements:

  • E1: General Purpose
  • E2: Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant (Note: Add 2" to A dimension for E2 enclosure)
  • E3: Explosion Resistant
  • E4: Moisture Resistant

Process connections include a conduit opening of either 1" or 3", depending on the model, with convenient field wiring terminals. The blind flange design incorporates a 1/2" thermowell for the thermostat bulb and a 3/4" NPT threaded opening for a thermocouple or RTD.

UL and CSA approvals are available, along with other third-party certifications. Model numbers follow the format NW HOR----, where series codes (03, 06, 18, 27, 45) indicate the number of elements.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between model families is the element configuration. The NW HOR Series features standard steel sheath elements. The NW HORB Series includes baffled elements specifically for heavy and fuel oil applications, which alters the overall weight compared to non-baffled equivalents of similar power ratings.
