The Omega MTO-3 Series is a medium-weight oil immersion heater designed specifically for heating medium-weight oils. The series utilizes a rugged steel sheath and low watt density to accommodate the thermal properties of these fluids.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The MTO-3 Series operates on 240 or 480V, 3-phase power. The series offers a wattage range of 3 to 9 kW with a consistent watt density of 15 W/in² across all models.

Configuration Options

The series is available in two enclosure configurations and multiple wattage ratings. Model numbers follow the format MTO-- or MTO-E2-.

Housing & Enclosure Options

• General purpose: NEMA 1 (IP00) rated enclosure (E1)
• Moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant terminal enclosure (E2): Explosion-resistant Type E2 construction refers to heater design features that provide explosion-resistant containment of electrical wiring according to National Electric Code.

Construction & Connections

• Sheath: 1 cm (0.475") diameter steel
• Screw Plug/Process Connection: 2½ NPT steel fitting
• Element Design: 3-element design

Key Product Differences

Variants differ by wattage, enclosure type, and voltage designation. The E1 general purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified. Heaters with moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant (E2) enclosures are CSA NRTL/C certified.
