Supported Applications

The Omega MTI-3 Series screw plug immersion heaters are designed for direct contact heating in solution water applications. These units feature a 3-element construction and utilize a stainless steel process connection to interface with the vessel.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within specific electrical parameters, offering power options of 240 or 480V, 3-phase. Wattage ranges from 3 to 18 kW across the available models. The heating elements maintain a watt density between 46 and 53 W/in² depending on the selected output level.

• Sheath Diameter: 1.2 cm (0.475")
• Process Connection: Screw Plug: 2½ NPT stainless steel
• Number of Heating Elements: 3 per unit

Configuration Options

The MTI-3 Series is configurable across wattage, voltage, and enclosure types to meet specific installation requirements. The series supports two primary enclosure configurations with distinct dimensional profiles.

• E1 General Purpose Enclosure: NEMA 1 (IP00) rated; includes a thermowell dimension of 10 cm (4 in).
• E2 Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant Enclosure: Designed for moisture resistance and explosion resistance; features a conduit opening of 2 x 3/4 NPT and a nominal thermowell length of 13.2 cm (5-3/16).

Wetted Materials:

• Incoloy sheath
• Stainless steel screw plug

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by wattage output, voltage designation ("240" for 240 Vac or "480" for 480 Vac), and enclosure type. Model numbers follow the format MTI-<kW><Enclosure Type>/<Voltage Designation> (example: MTI-330A/480).

Certifications vary by enclosure selection:

• E1 General Purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified.
• E2 Moisture-/Explosion-Resistant enclosures are CSA NRTL/C certified. Note that these heaters with E2 enclosures are not intended for use in hazardous areas.

Weight varies by model, ranging from 2 kg (5 lb) to 5 kg (15 lb). The series is made in the USA.
