Supported Applications
The Omega HDC00906 Series consists of Hi-Density Cartridge Heaters designed for high-temperature applications. These heaters feature a 321 Stainless Steel sheath, Grade 'A' Nickel-Chrome resistance wire, and high-purity Magnesium Oxide (MgO) insulation. The series is suitable for operations up to 760°C (1400°F). Standard configurations utilize Type N termination with nickel conductor lead wires.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The maximum operating temperature for the HDC00906 Series is 760°C (1400°F), while the maximum recommended sheath temperature for a standard heater is 648°C (1200°F). Maximum watt density ranges from 15.5 to 46.5 watt/cm² (100 to 300 watt/in²) depending on heater size and operating temperature.
Termination ambient temperatures are limited by insulation type: up to 250°C (482°F) for standard fiberglass-insulated wires and up to 450°C (842°F) for optional mica-insulated wires. The series is UL recognized and CSA certified, with UL File Number E65652 and CSA File Number 043099.
Configuration Options
The HDC00906 Series offers a broad range of dimensional configurations to accommodate various installation requirements. Nominal diameters are available in 1/8" (3.10 mm), 1/4" (6.25 mm), 5/16" (7.82 mm), 3/8" (9.42 mm), 1/2" (12.60 mm), 5/8" (15.77 mm), 3/4" (18.95 mm), and 1" (23.30 mm). Lengths vary by diameter, with maximum lengths reaching up to 1829 mm (72") for diameters from 5/8" to 1".
Electrical specifications include voltage ratings of 240 V or 480* V depending on the nominal diameter. Maximum amperage ranges from 3.0 A up to 23 A, with specific limits for certain termination types (Types C1C, C1D, C2C, C2D, CS, F, M3, R1B, S1, S2, SA, W and W3). Wattage tolerances are +10%, -15% for 1/8" heaters and Plus 5%, minus 10% for larger diameters.
Available electrical features vary by diameter:
- Dual Volts: Available on 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", and 1" heaters (marked Yes* or Yes).
- 3-Phase, Dual Circuits, and Multiple Heat Zones (maximum 3 zones): Supported on diameters from 3/8" to 1".
The standard sheath material is 321 Stainless Steel. For higher operating temperatures up to 760°C (1400°F) or corrosive immersion heating, Incoloy® 800 is available as an option.
Key Product Differences
The series supports various termination styles with over 40 standard options. Standard electrical connection uses Type N terminators with 254 mm (10") long nickel conductor lead wires connected to 32 mm (1¼") solid conductor terminal pins.
Options and accessories include:
- BNS Anti-Seize Cartridge Heater Coating: Available as a 13 oz. aerosol spray can (Part Number CML00010) or 4 oz. paste with brush applicator top (Part Number CML00020).
- Protection and sealing components: PTFE seals, convoluted cables, welded end discs, PTFE insulated lead wires, and SJO cable for contamination protection.
- Mechanical support: Strain relief brackets and springs designed for excessive flexing of leads.
- High temperature wiring harness rated up to 760°C (1400°F).
