Supported Applications
The Omega GJMQSS series consists of Low Noise Thermocouple Probes with Miniature Connectors, designed for temperature measurement applications requiring protection against electrical noise. These probes feature ground strap connections that maintain an electrical path from the probe sheath through the connectors to instrumentation. The female connector includes a write-on area for easy identification in multi-sensor installations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The GJMQSS series is available as Super Omegaclad XL thermocouple probes, meeting or exceeding special limits of error (SLE) and EN 60584-2 Tolerance Class 1. Connector bodies are offered in two material grades to suit different ambient conditions: Glass Filled Nylon rated -29 to 180°C, or LCP High Temperature rated -29 to 260°C.
Sheath materials include 304 SS and Inconel. The probes utilize standard size connectors compatible with existing instrumentation setups. Junction types must be specified as 'E' (Exposed), 'G' (Grounded), or 'U' (Ungrounded).
Configuration Options
The series supports a broad range of configurations across thermocouple alloys, sheath diameters, and lengths in both Metric and Standard dimensions.
- Thermocouple Alloys: Type J (IRON-CONSTANTAN), Type K (CHROMEGA™-ALOMEGA™), Type E (CHROMEGA™-CONSTANTAN), and Type T (COPPER-CONSTANTAN).
- Sheath Diameters: Metric options include 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, and 3.0 mm; Standard options include 0.040 in, 0.062 in, and 0.125 in.
- Lengths: Available lengths vary by dimension set, including 150 mm/300 mm (Metric) and 6"/12" (Standard), with other lengths available upon consultation.
- Housing Materials: Glass Filled Nylon or High Temperature LCP (add 'H' to model number).
- Sheath Material Options: Change 'SS' in the model number to 'IN' for Inconel sheaths at no additional charge.
Accessories such as mating connectors, cable clamps, ground straps (e.g., GS-GST), and extra replacement write-on windows are sold separately. Cal-5 is available for these probes.
Key Product Differences
The GJMQSS series distinguishes itself through specific model number structures that denote alloy, sheath diameter, length, junction type, and material options. For example, the base code identifies the probe family (e.g., GJ for Type J), followed by indicators for miniature quick disconnect style ('MQ'), sheath material ('SS' or 'IN'), diameter, and overall length.
High temperature applications requiring LCP connector bodies rated to 260°C are ordered by adding an 'H' prefix to the model number. For installations not requiring the external ground strap, plastic write-on windows are included with each probe; however, these cannot be used concurrently with ground straps. Straight connectors are available as a custom engineering option.
