Supported Applications
The Omega FTB-900 Series consists of liquid turbine flow meters designed to measure fluid flow. The device operates by using a turbine rotor whose rotation speed is proportional to flow velocity; rotating blades cut magnetic field lines to generate electrical impulses that are amplified and transmitted as a pulse signal.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports process temperatures from -20°C to +120°C. Accuracy is specified at ± 0.5% of reading with repeatability of ± 0.1%. Pressure ratings vary by connection size: 913.5 psi for all NPT meters up to 1"; 362.5 psi for 1-1/4", 1-1/2", and 2" male NPT connections; and 232 psi for 2-1/2", 3", and 4" male NPT connections.
Configuration Options
The series offers a range of process connection sizes including NPT 1/2", NPT 1", NPT 1-1/2", NPT 2", NPT 3", NPT 3-1/2", and NPT 4-1 2". Wetted materials include:
- Body: 304 or 316 Stainless Steel
- Rotor: CD4MCU Stainless Steel
- Rotor Support and Bearing: 316 Stainless Steel
- Rotor Shaft: Tungsten Carbide
Electrical connections utilize three terminals labeled POUT, 24VDC+, and 24VDC-. The sensor features a hard alloy bearing thrust type design for precision and wear resistance.
Selection Notes
- A strainer is recommended upstream if small particles are present in the fluid.
- Severe pulsation and mechanical vibration may affect accuracy and shorten meter life.
- High temperatures can damage the magnetic pick-up, while lower temperatures limit rotor rotation.
Key Product Differences
The series includes models such as FTB-904-P, FTB-906-P, FTD-910-P, FTB-915-P, FTB-930-P, FTB-940-P, FTB-960-P, FTB-970-P, and FTB-980-P. Dimensional variations correspond to the process connection size; for example, model FTD-910-P has an overall length of 345 mm with NPT 1/2" connections, while model FTB-980-P features a length of 220 mm and internal diameter (d) of 100 mm with NPT 4-1 2" connections. Model numbers follow the pattern FTB-9XX-P where XX indicates the specific size variant.
