Supported Applications

The OM-EL-USB-1-LCD is a standalone USB temperature data logger with an integrated high-contrast LCD display, making it well suited to monitoring tasks that need an at-a-glance reading on the device as well as a recorded history for later download. It measures and stores up to 16,378 temperature readings across a working range of -35 to 80°C (-31 to 176°F), so it can cover deep-cold and moderately warm environments from a single unit.

Typical deployments include cold-chain and refrigerated storage, transport and warehouse monitoring, laboratory and cleanroom environments, and general HVAC and process temperature verification. User-programmable high and low alarm thresholds, together with red, green and orange LED status indicators, allow the logger to flag out-of-limit excursions locally without a PC connection.

With the supplied protective cap fitted, the housing is rated to IP67, allowing use in damp, dusty or wash-down settings. Note that these products are not designed for use in, and should not be used for, human applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The logger operates over a temperature range of -35 to 80°C (-31 to 176°F). At temperatures below -20°C (-4°F) the LCD display exhibits a slower response of around 10 sec. The device carries the CE mark and, with its protective cap fitted, an IP67 enclosure rating.

Power comes from a replaceable 1/2 AA 3.6V lithium battery. Battery life is up to 1 year typical when run at 25°C with a 1 minute logging rate, though this depends on sample rate, ambient temperature and how the LCD display is used.

Configuration Options

This series is built around a single logger model, the OM-EL-USB-1-LCD, whose behaviour is configured through the supplied Windows software running on Windows XP/VISTA/7 (32- and 64-bit).

• Display modes: the LCD can be set off, on for 30 seconds after a button press, or permanently on.
• Logging rates: selectable at 10 s, 1 m, 5 m, 30 m, 1 hr, 6 hr and 12 hr.
• Start options: immediate, delayed and push-to-start logging.
• Data rollover: allows unlimited logging periods by overwriting the oldest data when the memory is full.
• Alarms and units: high and low alarm thresholds and °C or °F units are all set in software, with red, green and orange LEDs indicating status.

A companion replacement battery, the OM-EL-BATT, keeps the unit serviceable over its working life.
