Could this be set up with a computer to record readings continuously over a period of time?
Hi, thanks for your question. The HHG191 Handheld Gauss meter does not have an output, so unfortunately it cannot be used to stream data to a computer. It is only a read and view result measurement device. Please contact us with any further questions.

Can this measure the residual magnetism of a tape head? Can it be fitted with a probe? Thank you.
The HHG191 is used for measurement of electromagnetic fields only not static or residual field strength. These would have the integrated sensor, and a remote probe is unfortunately not an option. Please contact our Tech Support if you need any further assistance. Thanks

Does it require calibration? Or, what's calibration procedure?
There isn't any calibration offered on the HHG191 or procedures for field calibration. It would be best to return the unit on our exchange program for a new unit when your company requires to do calibration or it appears to not be measuring correctly.

If the probe is pointing in the opposite direction of the meter, will the field read as negative? Or does the meter only read magnitude? Thanks.
The HHG191 will measure the magnitude of an electro-magnetic energy when the sensing portion of the meter is within field. It has to be orientated into the field and will not measure negative values.

Can this be used to measure the strength of an electromagnet on a machine tool? We use them to hold the parts in place, and have not had a good way of determining if there are "dead" spots, etc.
Its is best to call our Tech Support at 203-359-1660 to review and discus your application needs.

Will this meter provide information regarding frequency and intensity of settings on PEMF device?
The HHG191 will show the unit of measure and range setting on the display. If you use the MAX button it will show the highest magnitude measured once engaged.

Would this be appropriate for testing the strength of a magnet?
The HHG191 is for measuring magnetic fields created in AC Voltage powered devices and will not measure permanent magnets.

Hi, I'm wondering if this has a wire lead on it where I can put the wire lead onto the item that I am measuring? If not, how far away do you need to have the gauss meter from the magnetic field? Thank you for your time!
Thank you for your inquiry. This unit is 'complete' with no lead wire accessories. The meter is held in the vicinity of the gauss field. For the best readings, you should get as close as you possible can to the field and record the highest value that the digital display is showing. We have no 'minimum distance' or 'maximum distance' spec for this product; if using in the manner described you will have good results in gauss measurement.
