Supported Applications
The Omega IF-002 Modbus RS485 Smart Interface connects Omega Link Smart Probes to existing industrial networks. It enables integration with systems utilizing the Modbus RTU protocol or a command line interpreter for configuration and monitoring. The interface supports connectivity via SYNC software, Omega Link Cloud, hardware Gateways (including GW-001 Series Wired IIoT Gateway Standard and Wireless IIoT Gateway Pro models), and Omega Enterprise Gateway software.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The IF-002 operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). It is designed for industrial environments with an enclosure rating of IP67 when mated. The device accepts a power supply input from 5 VDC - 36 VDC, providing flexibility in network power configurations. Physical dimensions are specified as 22.1 mm W x 96.7 mm L (0.87" x 3.80") not including mounting tabs. The interface carries CE approval.
Configuration Options
The IF-002 series provides specific electrical connections and configurable options for network deployment:

- M12 5-Pin (RS485): Pin 1 (VDD, 5-36 VDC), Pin 2 (A', RS485 Data +), Pin 3 (GND), Pin 4 (B', RS485 Data -), and Pin 5 (SHIELD).
- M12 8-Pin (Smart Probe): Includes connections for Interrupt Signal, SCL/SDA signals, Shield Ground, Power Return (GND), and Nominal 3.3 VDC to Smart Probe.

The IF-002 is distinct from the Omega Link IF-001 interface; while both support Omega Link Smart Probes, the IF-001 functions as a USB CDC/VCP device for direct computer connection (typically 5 VDC via USB), whereas the IF-002 provides an RS485 serial port specifically for Modbus RTU network integration. The IF-002 is configured to run off a wider power range of 5 to 36 VDC compared to the USB-powered IF-001.

Can this device be used on custom MODBUS RTU networks rather than LayerN? By directly interfacing with the data line on M12 5-pin RS-485 data lines? Thank you
