Supported Applications
The Omega OM-CP Wireless Receivers serve as high-powered wireless transceivers designed to provide network connectivity between wireless data loggers and a base station computer. The series supports communication with OM-CP-RF, Thermalert Dataloggers (OM-CP-Therm-A-lert), and the OM-CP-RF2000A Series. These devices function as repeaters or can be plugged directly into a PC via USB to facilitate data acquisition in environmental monitoring setups.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates on the 2.405GHz - 2.475GHz frequency band and supports up to 64 connected data loggers per receiver unit. Transmission distances vary by environment: outdoor line-of-sight unobstructed ranges reach a maximum of 4,000' between receivers or 2,000' to data loggers; indoor typical urban environments support up to 1,000' (receiver-to-receiver) and 500' (to data loggers). The operating environment is rated from -20°C to +85°C (-4°F to 185°F) with humidity levels of 0%RH to 95%RH non-condensing for the standard model, or up to 100%RH non-condensing for the IP69K variant. Red and Green LED indicators provide status feedback on power and communication.
Configuration Options
The OM-CP series offers distinct housing configurations tailored to different installation requirements:
- OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT (Standard): Features an external antenna for flexible mounting. The enclosure is constructed from ABS Plastic with a PVC Plastic antenna, measuring 3.8" x 1.6" x 0.8" (enclosure) and 7.2" (antenna). It carries an IP40 ingress protection rating.
- OM-CP-RFC1000-IP69K (Rugged): Designed for harsh environments with a stainless steel cover and Acetal Plastic body, plus a Neoprene antenna boot. Dimensions are 3.4" x 2.9" x 1.3" (enclosure), expanding to 8.8" or 9.2" depending on antenna orientation. This variant holds an IP69K ingress protection rating and weighs 14.1oz (400g).
Both variants utilize a USB interface for PC connection and wireless connectivity for data loggers. Regulatory approvals include FCC ID: OA3MRF24J40MC, IC#: 7693A-24J40MC, and ETSI 300 328 (EU R&TTE).
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the series models lies in ingress protection and enclosure materials. The OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT is not water-resistant, whereas the OM-CP-RFC1000-IP69K provides IP69K protection suitable for high-pressure washdowns. Additionally, a European variant (OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT-EUR) is available within the series lineup.
Operational constraints apply across the series: Channel 26 (all switches in the up position) is not supported. To satisfy FCC RF Exposure requirements, a separation distance of 20 cm or more must be maintained between the antenna and persons during operation. The antennas used for this transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
