Supported Applications

The Omega PGC Series consists of commercial-grade Type C pressure gauges designed for industrial applications. Documented uses include installation on pumps, portable compressors, and industrial machinery. The series is also specified for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, instrumentation, and pressurized vessels.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PGC Series features an OMEGA® spring-suspended movement suspended between two springs to reduce wearing parts and provide resistance to mechanical shock and vibration. Movement parts are ultrasonically cleaned and lubricated with silicone oil for long cycle life.

  • Accuracy: 3-2-3% (3% over first and last 10% of range, 2% over remainder)
  • Ambient Temperature Limit: 66°C (150°F) maximum
  • Pressure Ranges: Vacuum to 600 psi. Specific standard ranges include 30/0 inHg vac, compound vacuum-to-pressure spans such as 30 inHg vac to 15 psi through 30 inHg vac to 100 psi, and positive pressure from 0 to 15 psi up to 0 to 600 psi.

Configuration Options

The series is configured by dial size, connection orientation, and range code. The construction includes a painted steel case with a polycarbonate plastic window. Wetted materials consist of a bronze Bourdon tube and brass process connections.

  • Dial Sizes: 50.8 mm (2") and 63.5 mm (2½").
  • Process Connection: Brass ¼ NPT for all variants.
  • Connection Orientation: Lower or Back mount options are available depending on the model code suffix.
  • Ranges: Standard ranges cover vacuum, compound (vacuum to pressure), and positive pressure up to 600 psi. Other standard ranges may be available via Omega's online catalog.

Key Product Differences

The PGC Series model number follows the format PGC-<DIAL SIZE><CONNECTION>-<RANGE CODE>. The dial size is indicated by "20" for 50.8 mm (2") and "25" for 63.5 mm (2½"). Connection orientation is denoted by the letter following the dial size: "L" indicates a Lower connection, while "B" indicates a Back connection.

Dimensions vary by dial size. The 50.8 mm model has an overall width of 53 mm (2 1/64 in) and weighs approximately 4½ oz. The 63.5 mm model measures 69 mm (2 3/32 in) wide and weighs approximately 6 oz.

The brochure shows a high limit stop for the needle - does the compound model 30V/30 have a high stop?

Asked by: CW952
Thanks for the inquire All PGC gauge regardless of range have a stop on the high pressure end. There would not be any stop on the vacuum side of scale since you would never be able to achieve a full vacuum.

Can this gauge be used to measure propane pressure?

Asked by: SRS73
The wetted parts on this gauge are brass and bronze. They should be ok with propane

What is the minimum distance I should move the pressure gauge away from accessories (elbows, valves, tees, reductions, etc.) in water pipe systems? Both upstream and downstream.

Asked by: Junior Mujica
Pressure unlike should be same throughout the system regardless of where it is being measured. It should not matter where you place the gauge.

A fluid immediately after passing through some accessory, generates turbulence affecting the velocity profile of the fluid, this stabilizes after the fluid advances through the system, can this turbulence affect the reading in the case of a manometer?

Asked by: Junior Mujica
Junior, these pressure gauges are rated for steady static pressures. Any turbulence or spikes in pressure will affect the diaphragm of the pressure gauge, we do not recommend using these gauges for turbulent pressures.

Can these gauges be installed outdoors? Is the lens made of glass or plastic?

Asked by: Rami
Thank you for this inquire. This gauge has a plastic lens. We have Test Gauges like the PGT that have glass fronts. Hope this was helpful.

what is the minimum design temperature of this pressure gauge? I plan to use it on chilled glycol water with minimum temperature of -10C, is this gauge suitable?

Asked by: AlbertL
The PGC gauges can be used down to a temperature of -40 providing the temperature media does not freeze
