Supported Applications

The Omega LVN-90 Series comprises NEMA 6 (IP68) side-mounted liquid level switches designed for high, low, or intermediate level sensing. These sealed units utilize a potting compound to protect internal components, making them suitable for submersion in moisture-laden environments. The series includes models LVN-90, LVN-91, LVN-92, and LVN-93, each featuring a sealed SPST switch intended for consistent accuracy and high repeatability.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The operating temperature range varies by model. Models LVN-90 through LVN-92 are rated from -40 to 82°C (-40 to 180°F), while the LVN-93 supports a higher range of -40 to 149°C (-40 to 300°F). Maximum pressure ratings span from 100 psi for models with plastic stems (LVN-90, LVN-91, LVN-92) up to 500 psi for the stainless steel model (LVN-93).

Switch actuation occurs at approximately ½ the float travel in liquid of 1.0 specific gravity. The series is designed for liquids with a specific gravity ranging from 0.49 to 0.88, depending on the selected stem and float material.

Configuration Options

The LVN-90 Series offers four distinct configurations based on wetted materials, temperature limits, and pressure ratings:

  • LVN-90: CPVC stem/float; 100 psi maximum pressure; specific gravity of 0.71.
  • LVN-91: PVDF stem/float; 100 psi maximum pressure; specific gravity of 0.88.
  • LVN-92: Polypropylene stem/float; 100 psi maximum pressure; specific gravity of 0.49.
  • LVN-93: 316 SS (stainless steel) stem/float; 500 psi maximum pressure; specific gravity of 0.85.

All models feature a switch rating of 50 VA and include standard electrical connections consisting of 20 AWG, 24" long PVC lead wires. Process connections are provided via ½ NPT fittings: dual male threads (both sides) for LVN-90 and LVN-92 allow top or bottom tank installation, while the LVN-93 features a single connection.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within the series is the wetted material composition, which dictates both temperature capability and pressure rating. The plastic-bodied models (LVN-90, LVN-91, LVN-92) share a maximum operating temperature of 82°C (180°F) and a 100 psi limit. In contrast, the LVN-93 utilizes 316 SS construction to support temperatures up to 149°C (300°F) and pressures up to 500 psi.

Physical dimensions also vary by model; LVN-90 and LVN-92 have an overall length of 4 ¼" NOM (108 mm NOM), whereas the stainless steel LVN-93 measures 5 ½" NOM (140 mm NOM). The switches are user-selectable as normally open or normally closed by reversing the float orientation during mounting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Product was backordered but it was what exactly what we needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work great! They work great but expensive in stainless. The variety of voltages is good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor wire insulation Purchased 2 a couple years ago, and installed into a hot, dry environment (but still well within specs). After about 6 months, the wire insulation became cracked and brittle, and easily fell away from the copper

OK, I get 50VA, but what are the voltage and current limits?  Can I switch 100,000 volts at 1/2 milliamp, or 1,000 amps at 50 millivolts?

Asked by: wpns
Thank you for your inquiry. Please e-mail flow@omega.com and our Flow Engineers can send you the electrical ratings.

CE compliance is listed on the web site for this switch (LVN-92), but not on the data sheet. How can I get a CE declaration of conformity?
