Supported Applications
The Rotronic HP23 is a multifunction hand-held indicator with data logging capability designed for spot checking HVAC installations, manufacturing processes, measuring seeds, pharmaceutical powders, and paper stacks. The device also functions as a calibrator for other ROTRONIC instruments based on AirChip 3000 technology.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HP23 measures relative humidity in the range of 0 to 100 %RH and temperature from -100 to 200°C (-148 to 392°F). While the measurement capability extends across this full span, the operating temperature range for the HP23 electronics is limited to -10 to 60°C. The unit features two probe inputs and a real-time clock.
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple operational modes and configurable power options:
- Measurement Modes: Standard Mode (general purpose indicator, data logger, calibrator) and Aw Mode for water activity measurement. The HP23-AW model is required for Aw Mode; the standard HP23 operates in Standard Mode.
- Sensor Inputs: Compatible with HygroClip 2 digital probe signals or a single-channel analog probe signal (0 to max. 3.3 VDC).
- Power Supply: Operates on a factory-default 9V alkaline battery or a user-configured 9V rechargeable Ni-MH battery.
- Data & Connectivity: Includes a service connector (mini USB type) for charging and PC connection. The device supports configuration and data download via HW4 software.
The series is offered with the following options and accessories: HygroClip 2 humidity-temperature probes, HygroClip 2 analog probes, analog pressure probes, battery charger (part number AC1212), service cable AC2001, and HW4 software.
Configuration Notes
The HP23 is shipped with a regular 9V battery and the battery charge function turned off. To use a rechargeable battery, the battery charge function must be enabled in the Function Menu – Settings. Attempting to charge a regular battery may cause it to burst and damage the instrument. Additionally, the display refresh rate setting can affect the data logging function of both the HP23 and probe.Key Product Differences
The series includes two primary model families: HygroPalm HP23-A and HP23-AW-A. The key distinction is that Aw Mode for water activity measurement is available only on the HP23-AW variant, whereas both models support general purpose indication, data logging, and calibration functions in Standard Mode.
