Supported Applications

The Omega Monnit Alta Wireless AC Current Meters measure the RMS current of an alternating current (AC) system using a current transformer (CT) that wraps around the 'hot' wire of a two-wire power system. The sensor reports minimum RMS current, maximum RMS current, average RMS current, and amp hours to the iMonnit system, which can generate watt-hour or kilowatt-hour readings.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series offers two measurement ranges: 0-20 Amp (Low Current) and 0-150 Amp (High Current). Accuracy specifications vary by range and calibration state. For the 0-20 Arms CT, accuracy is +/- 2% @ 2 to 20 Arms, +/- .07 Arms @ < 2 Arms; with appropriate offset calibration, it achieves +/- 1% @ 2 to 20 Arms, +/- .035 Arms @ < 2 Arms. For the 0-150 Arms CT, accuracy is +/- 2% @ 2 to 150 Arms, +/- .4 Arms @ < 15 Arms; calibrated accuracy reaches +/- 1% @ 2 to 150 Arms, +/- .2 Arms @ < 2 Arms. The frequency range for both transducers is 50 – 100 Hz.

Operating temperature ranges depend on the power source and model configuration:

  • -18°C to 55°C (0°F to 130°F) using alkaline batteries
  • -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) using lithium batteries or for the Industrial model

The device features a default averaging interval of 5 seconds. Wireless range is specified as 1,000+ ft. non-line-of-sight.

Configuration Options

The series supports two primary enclosure configurations: Commercial AA and Industrial. The Commercial model measures 4.375 in (length) x 2.470 in (height) x 1.111 in (width) and weighs 3.7 Ounces. The Industrial Wireless Sensor enclosure is NEMA 1, 2, 4, 4x, 12, and 13 rated, sealed and weatherproof, with dimensions of 3.701 in (length) x 2.316 in (height) x 1.378 in (width) and a weight of 4.7 Ounces.

Power options include:

  • Two replaceable 1.5 V AA batteries (standard)
  • Line power option with barrel power connector and 3.0 - 3.6 V power supply (with backup AA batteries)
  • Optional solar feature with 5VDC / 30mA solar panel and 600 mAh rechargeable battery

The device includes onboard data memory for up to 512 sensor messages, Encrypt-RF™ security (256-bit key exchange and AES-128 CTR), frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) transmission, and over-the-air updates. Certifications include FCC ID: ZTL-G2SC1, IC: 9794A-G2SC1, EN 300 220-2 V3.1.1 (2017-02), EN 60950, and UL Listed to UL508-4x specifications (File E194432).

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two current transducer options based on the maximum accurate CT current:

  • Low Current Transducer: Maximum Accurate CT Current of 20 Arms; Absolute Max CT Current of 50 Amps RMS (Arms); Measurement Resolution ~.01 Arms; Dimensions 40 mm x 25 mm x 26 mm with a 10 mm inner diameter.
  • High Current Transducer: Maximum Accurate CT Current of 150 Arms; Absolute Max CT Current of 200 Amps RMS (Arms); Measurement Resolution ~.1 Arms; Dimensions 67 mm x 49 mm x 42 mm with a 24 mm inner diameter.

Offset limits for both transducers are -1.27 to + 1.27 Arms, with default settings of +.1 Arms for the Low Current model and +.3 Arms for the High Current model.
