Supported Applications

The Omega RC016 Series is a miniature semiconductor enclosure heater designed to prevent condensation and ensure minimum operating temperature in small enclosures. The series features a compact design with self-regulating, temperature-limiting capabilities.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RC016 Series operates within an ambient and storage temperature range of -45 to 70°C (-49 to 158°F). The heating element is a PTC resistor that provides self-regulating and temperature-limiting behavior. With a heating capacity of 13 W, the unit achieves an approximate surface temperature of 170°C (338°F).

Power supply requirements are listed as 120 to 240 Vac/Vdc* with a minimum operating voltage of 110V and a maximum of 265V. A note in the specifications states that operating with voltages below 140 Vac/Vdc reduces heating performance by approx. 10%. The maximum inrush current is 3.0 A.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable voltage ranges and specific physical dimensions to fit compact installation spaces.

  • Voltage Options: Available for 120 to 240 Vac/Vdc or 12 to 36 Vac/Vdc. Other voltages are available on request.
  • Housing & Materials: The heater body is constructed from anodized aluminum with a protection type of NEMA 1 (IP32) and Class II double insulation.
  • Dimensions: Total length is 340 mm (13.3 in), comprising a 60 mm (2.4 in) heater body, 50 mm (2 in) cable length, 40 mm (1.6 in) width, and 12.5 mm (0.5 in) height.
  • Connections: Equipped with a 2 x AWG 22 sheathed silicone cable.
  • Mounting & Weight: Designed for screw fixing (screws not included) with variable fitting positions and an approximate weight of 40 g (0.08 lb).

The series carries CE, cULus, RoHS, and VDE + UL File No. E150057 approvals.

Key Product Differences

Differences within the RC016 Series are defined by voltage range:

  • RC1610000: Small PTC heater, 13 W, rated for 120 to 240 Vac/Vdc.
  • RC1610001: Small PTC heater, 13 W, rated for 12 to 36 Vac/Vdc.

What is OAL, centers from the corner on both holes?? (Dimensions is general)

Asked by: FrankOwsiany
Hi Frank, The holes are 1.6" on centers from each other. The hole edge is 0.4" from the sides and 0.2" on center from top edge of the mounting flange. A drawing of the RLC161000 can be found on the specs page for that heater.

Considering the self regulating characteristics of this unit can it be operated without a thermostat and is the operating life substantially reduced by this style of operation?

Asked by: Agopp
There should be no reduction in life expectancy as it is designed to increase the PTC Resistance as it heats and operate at a substantially reduced power output.
