Supported Applications
The Dwyer Model CTF Mini Tuning Fork Level Switch is designed for level control of powders. The series incorporates a piezoelectric crystal that vibrates the fork at its natural frequency; when the fork contacts material, vibration dampens and the switch changes state. As the fork becomes free of material, it returns to its normal state. Applications include dry powder compatible with wetted materials and detection of bulk materials submerged in liquid.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Model CTF operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C) and a process temperature limit of -40 to 212°F (-40 to 100°C). The unit is rated for pressures up to 600 psi (40 bar) with an IP65 enclosure rating. Sensitivity requires a minimum bulk solid density of 4.4 lb/ft³ (70 g/l).
Response characteristics are defined by the sensing delay: Maximum covered probe takes 1 to 3 s, and uncovered probe recovery is also 1 to 3 s.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable output signals and specific wetted material compositions. Key selection parameters include:
- Output Signal: Available as 3-wire PNP or NPN output.
- Power Supply: Operates on 12-55 VDC with a power consumption of 10 mA @ 12-24 VDC (max 0.5 W).
- Electrical Rating: Maximum load is 350 mA @ 12 to 55 VDC.
- Process Connection: Standardized at 1" male NPT.
