Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series DBLM Mini-Bin Dry Bulk Level Monitor provides reliable level sensing for dry bulk solids where mounting space is limited. Designed as a compact replacement for standard size rotary paddle monitors, the unit detects high, intermediate, or low level conditions to prevent overflows, empty bins, choking, or clogging.
The series operates by using a 1 rpm synchronous motor to rotate a four-vane plastic paddle. When material surrounds the paddle and impedes rotation, the motor is de-energized and triggers an SPDT snap switch. This output can be used to turn equipment on or off or provide alarm functions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series DBLM is engineered for dry bulk solids with densities ranging from 25 to 65 lbs. per cubic foot. The unit operates within a temperature range of -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C). It features an enclosure rating of NEMA 1 (IP10) constructed from polycarbonate.
Electrical specifications include power requirements for 110 VAC or optional 220 VAC, with a power consumption of 1.5 watt. The SPDT snap switch is rated at 3 A @ 250 VAC. Electrical connections consist of 18 AWG, 12" leads wrapped in conduit.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable power supplies and mounting options to accommodate specific installation constraints:
- Power Supply Options: Models are available for 110 VAC (DBLM3040) or 220 VAC (DBLM3140).
- Process Connections: Standard connection is 3/4" male NPT. An optional flange and a No. A-335, 1-1/4" to 3/4" reducer are available for replacing standard size units.
- Mounting Accessories: The series supports the No. F1 flexible carbon steel mounting flange.
- Wetted Materials: Construction includes a polycarbonate paddle, SS shaft, and PTFE (Teflon) washer.
The unit is designed for side mount installation on the tank or bin. The conduit opening should be placed in a downward position to protect from moisture entering through the conduit.
Key Product Differences
Differences within the Series DBLM are defined by power supply voltage and available mounting configurations:
- DBLM3040: Configured for 110 VAC operation.
- DBLM3140: Configured for 220 VAC operation (consult factory).
The series includes CE compliance. For normally closed (NC) operation, the yellow (Y common) and blue wires connect to the output device; the circuit closes when the motor is running and opens when de-energized. For normally open (NO) operation, the yellow (Y common) and red (R) wires connect to the output device; the circuit closes when the motor is de-energized.
