Supported Applications

The Omega TWAM5 series comprises self-adjusting weigh assemblies designed for tank and bin weighing applications. These heavy-duty units are engineered to support multicell installations, providing accurate measurements in industrial environments where corrosion resistance is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series includes LC501/LCM501 load cells with a measurement range spanning 0-100 lb to 0-20,000 lb (0-25 kgf to 0-10,000 kgf). Each assembly is shipped partially assembled and features self-adjusting capabilities for non-parallel mounting surfaces up to 2° and thermal expansion adjustments of up to ±1.6 mm. The load cells support a compression overload capacity of 150%.

Performance verification includes a 5-point calibration in compression at 0%, 50%, 100%, 50%, and 0%. Units are certified under NIST Standard and RoHS compliance requirements.

Configuration Options

The TWAM5 series offers configurable options across capacity, material construction, and dimensional envelopes to accommodate specific installation constraints.

• Materials: Available in Nickel-Plated Carbon Steel (TWA/TWAM models) or Stainless Steel (TWA6/TWAM6 models).
• Capacities: Metric capacities range from 25 kgf to 10,000 kgf; Imperial capacities range from 100 lb to 20,000 lb.
• Dimensions: Overall dimensions vary by capacity. For example, the ≤375 (≤750) capacity model has an overall length "A" of 146 mm (5.75 in), while the 10K (20K) capacity model extends to 318 mm (12.53 in).
• Mounting: Adjustable height per dimension "J", with torque requirements ranging from 30 N-m (22 ft-lb) for smaller capacities up to 245 N-m (180 ft-lb) for the largest models.

The series supports compatible meters/controllers, including PX309 series pressure transducers and iSeries programmable process controllers with serial and embedded Internet/Ethernet communications options.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the TWAM5 family are distinguished by material composition and capacity rating. Carbon steel models utilize the TWA/TWAM prefix, while stainless steel variants use the TWA6/TWAM6 designation. Each model number corresponds to a specific replacement load cell; for instance, the TWAM5-250 pairs with an LCM501-250 load cell, and the TWAM5-10K utilizes an LCM501-10K.

Weight varies by model capacity: standard range units (100 to 750 kgf/lb) weigh between 4.5 (10) and 11.5 (25), while the 10,000 kgf (lb) unit weighs 25 (55). The series includes specific replacement load cell part numbers such as LC501-1K through LC501-20K for imperial models and LCM501-25 through LCM501-10K for metric configurations.
