Supported Applications

The Omega PRS series sensors are designed for use in Sanitary Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. These Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) probes feature sanitary fittings intended for assembly to like-size piping connections within hygienic processes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PRS series utilizes 100 ohm Platinum RTD elements meeting IEC-60751 Class A requirements. The documented measurement range is -50 to 200°C (-58 to 392°F). Accuracy specifications include a tolerance of ± (0.15 + 0.002t) °C and ±0.06 Ω at 0°C. Wetted surfaces are constructed from 316L Stainless Steel with a surface finish of 32 microinches or better.

Configuration Options

The series is available in Standard Duty (PRS-S-M12 Series) and Heavy-Duty (PRS-H-M12 Series) configurations. Key configurable dimensions include:

  • Housing Material: 316L SS.
  • Process Connection: 1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™ fitting (Tri-Clamp® compatible).
  • Sheath Diameter: ¼" for Standard Duty; ⅜" for Heavy-Duty.
  • Probe Lengths: Available in lengths from 3" to 6".

Electrical termination is provided via a 4-pin M12 male connector plug. The sensors support 4-wire RTD connections and are compatible with 3-wire RTD instrumentation (pins A/B and C/D) or 2-wire configurations (pins A/B or C/D). Optional extension cables, including the M12C-PVC-4-S-F-5 mating cable, are available separately. Sensor flange sizes ranging from ¾ to 4" Tri-Grip™ process flanges may be consulted with sales.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Standard Duty and Heavy-Duty models primarily by sheath diameter: the PRS-S-M12 Series features a ¼" sheath, while the PRS-H-M12 Series utilizes an ⅜" sheath. Both configurations share the same process connection style (1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™), wetted material (316L SS), and electrical interface (4-pin M12). Model numbers follow the pattern PRS-3-100-A-[Series]-[Length]-D1-M12, where [Series] denotes S for Standard Duty or H for Heavy-Duty.

Is this sensor UL certified? I haven't been able to find any documentation relating to that. Thank you

Thanks for your inquiry, RTD's are not UL rated. Therefore this probe is not UL certified.
