Supported Applications

The Omega HGJQIN series comprises Low Noise Thermocouple Probes with High Temperature Standard Size Connectors. These probes are engineered for temperature measurement applications requiring electrical noise protection and high-temperature connector performance.

Key design features include a patented 30° probe angle, an environmentally friendly cadmium-free liquid crystal polymer housing material, and a ground strap connection that maintains an electrical path from the sheath through the connectors to instrumentation. The female connector includes a write-on area for easy identification of sensor parameters.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series meets or exceeds SLE (Special Limits of Error) and EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1 accuracy standards. Connector temperature ratings are specified at 260°C (500°F).

Probes utilize Standard Size Connectors with a GST connector face on the probe side, featuring ground strap connections for electrical noise protection. Mating connectors, cable clamps, and locking clips are included with all low noise probes.

Probe Dimensions

• Diameter: 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 inches (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 mm)
• Overall Lengths: 12", 18", 24" (300 mm, 450 mm, 600 mm); other lengths available upon consultation.

Connector Dimensions

The connector body dimensions are provided in millimeters and inches: overall height of 50.546 (1.990), connector body height of 19.786 (0.779), diameter of 3.962 (0.156) at the base, width of 12.7 (0.50) and 13.944 (0.549), with a through hole diameter of 2.54 (0.10).

Configuration Options

The HGJQIN series supports multiple thermocouple alloys, sheath materials, and junction configurations to accommodate specific process requirements.

Thermocouple Alloys

• J Type: IRON-CONSTANTAN (Model prefix: HGJ)
• K Type: CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA® (Model prefix: HGK)
• E Type: CHROMEGA®-CONSTANTAN (Model prefix: HGE)
• T Type: COPPER-CONSTANTAN (Model prefix: HGT)

Sheath Materials

• Inconel Sheath (Standard for 'IN' models)
• 304 SS Sheath ('SS' in model number)
• Options: 321 SS Sheath available by changing 'SS' to '321SS'; Super OMEGACLAD® XL Sheath available by changing 'IN' to 'XL'. No additional charge applies for these material changes.

Junction Types

Specify the junction type in the model number:

• 'G': Grounded
• 'E': Exposed
• 'U': Ungrounded

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by its integral connector design and noise-reduction features. The external ground strap strengthens the mechanical connection between connectors, while twisted/shielded wire is suggested for low noise probe applications.

For applications not requiring an external ground strap, plastic write-on windows are included with each probe to provide additional identification areas; however, these windows cannot be used concurrently with ground straps. Replacement write-on windows (WCP-L for GST connector face and WCP-GST for the connector/probe side) are available in 5-packs.

OMEGACAL Factory CAL is available as an option. The series also supports Cal-5 availability. IEC colors can be requested by consulting the Sales Department, with no additional charge for lengths from 2 to 12".
