Supported Applications

The Omega HGMP series comprises low-noise, high-temperature miniature connectors designed for OMEGA probes and extension wires. These connectors facilitate the easy connection of ground wires to ensure excellent thermal and electrical characteristics for high accuracy in temperature measurement systems.

• Connection of thermocouple sensors using compensating alloys
• Maintenance of electrical continuity via connector grounding to protect against electrical noise
• Identification of sensor types through ANSI color-coded shells and write-on windows

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is available in two housing material configurations with distinct ambient temperature limits. The GMP series utilizes Glass-Filled Nylon rated for -29 to 220°C (-20 to 425°F). The HGMP series employs Liquid Crystal Polymer, extending the operating range to -29 to 260°C (-20 to 500°F).

Electrical performance is supported by high-purity thermocouple alloy pins and sockets. The connectors accept stranded or solid wire up to size 20 AWG with a crimped connection to internal hardware.

Configuration Options

The HGMP series supports multiple thermocouple types, identified by specific shell colors and compensating alloys:

• Type K (CHROMEGA-ALOMEGA): Yellow shell
• Type T (Copper-Constantan): Blue shell
• Type J (Iron-Constantan): Black shell
• Type E (CHROMEGA-Constantan): Purple shell
• Type R/S (Pt/13%Rh-Pt): Green shell; HGMP uses Copper and RNX/SNX compensating alloys, while GMP uses Copper and Alloy #11.
• Type C (W/5% Re-W/26%Re): Red shell with CPX/CNX compensating alloys
• Type U (Uncompensated): White shell; used with Type B thermocouples (Pt/6%Rh-Pt/30%Rh)
• Type N (OMEGALLOY): Orange shell using OMEGA-P and OMEGA-N compensating alloys

Physical dimensions differ between male and female variants. Female connectors measure 7.9 mm (0.31 in) height, 36.6 mm (1.44 in) length, and 16.8 mm (0.66 in) width. Male connectors share the same height and width but have a reduced length of 31.8 mm (1.25 in). Both feature captive interior and side screws with combination heads (flathead/Phillips).

Key Product Differences

The series offers male (-M) and female (-F) connector variants for each alloy code. Male connectors include an external ground strap option to maintain electrical connection and strengthen the mechanical link, which replaces the side write-on window.

• GMP Series: Glass-Filled Nylon housing; includes replaceable write-on windows (WCP-S face, WCP-GMP side).
• HGMP Series: Liquid Crystal Polymer housing; includes non-replaceable write-on windows for face and side. Accessories include HCP-S (face window) and HCP-HGMP (side window).

Ground straps are available as an accessory (GS-GMP-10). Each connector is supplied with a write-on window for the face and side, except where replaced by the ground strap on male units.
