Supported Applications
The Series A-1000 tube fittings are engineered to provide reliable, leak-free connections across a wide variety of fluid-handling applications. A dependable leak-free tubing system is achieved by combining proper selection and handling of tubing with correct tube fitting selection and installation.
The fittings are intended for service with liquid, steam, and compatible gases, and the stainless steel line is constructed from 316 SS wetted materials. Material pairing follows the tubing being joined: stainless fittings for stainless tube, brass fittings for copper tube, and carbon steel fittings for carbon steel tube. This makes the range suitable for instrumentation, process, and general plumbing connections wherever a secure, serviceable compression joint is needed.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Maximum allowable working pressure varies by tube outside diameter and wall thickness, as tabulated in the manufacturer's stainless steel tubing pressure table (Table A). As one worked example from that data, a 1/16" O.D. tube with a .010" wall thickness carries a maximum allowable working pressure of 5600 PSIG. As tube diameter increases and wall thickness is held constant, the allowable working pressure decreases accordingly.
At elevated temperatures, the tubing pressure ratings are reduced by published stress factors for 316 stainless steel (Table B). Because those derating figures must be read against the correct temperature row, users should consult the factory tables directly rather than interpolate. Installation guidance is equally important to performance:
- Do not install, tighten, or loosen a tube fitting while the system is under pressure.
- Do not loosen a tube fitting, nut, or plug to relieve or bleed system pressure.
- Always use a back-up wrench to hold the tube fitting body steady when tightening or loosening the nut.
- There is no need to disassemble a new tube fitting prior to use.
Configuration Options
The series is organized into distinct fitting-line families, each providing a different connection geometry while sharing the same leak-free ferrule principle. Individual models within a line are differentiated by tube O.D. and, where applicable, by male pipe thread size.
- Male elbows and male connectors pair a tube O.D. with a male pipe thread, offering directional or straight transitions to threaded ports.
- Unions, union elbows, and union tees join tube-to-tube in straight, angled, and branched configurations.
- Front ferrules, back ferrules, ferrule sets, and nuts supply the sealing and replacement components of the compression joint.
- Bulkhead unions allow panel or wall pass-through, and female connectors and hose barb fittings extend the range to female-threaded ports and hose connections.
Across these lines the tube O.D. options span from 1/16" up to 2", with male pipe thread sizes ranging from 1/16" to 1".
Key Product Differences
Models follow the A-1000 - Series - Type - Size structure (for example, A-1001-1, A-1002-1, A-1003-1). The lineup is grouped by fitting type:
- A-1001 — Male Elbow fitting line.
- A-1002 — Male Connector fitting line.
- A-1003 — Union fitting line.
- A-1004 — Union Elbow fitting line.
- A-1005 — Union Tee fitting line.
- A-1006 — Front Ferrule fitting line.
- A-1007 — Back Ferrule fitting line.
- A-1008 — Nut fitting line.
- A-1009 — Ferrule Set fitting line.
- A-1010 — Bulkhead Union fitting line.
- A-1011 — Female Connector fitting line.
- A-1012 — Hose Barb stainless steel fitting line.
