Supported Applications
The Omega SN and SNH Series are rugged, reliable premium quality strip heaters designed for industrial heating applications. These units feature two terminals at one end (inline configuration) to facilitate electrical connection in constrained spaces or specific mounting arrangements.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Performance is defined by the sheath material selected for each model. The series supports power ratings from 100 to 1500 Watts operating on 120 or 240 Vac supplies. Maximum allowable sheath temperatures vary by construction:
- Rust-Resisting Iron Sheath (SN Series): Max sheath temperature of 399°C (750°F).
- Chrome Steel Sheath (SNH Series): Max sheath temperature of 649°C (1200°F).
The series includes CSA Certified, VDE, CE, UL, and cUL approvals. A caution note indicates that fire and electrical shock may result if products are used improperly or by non-qualified personnel.
Configuration Options
The SN-SNH heater family offers configurable dimensions, watt densities, and sheath materials to match specific thermal loads. The series supports the following selection parameters:
- Series Identity: SN Series (Rust-Resisting Iron) or SNH Series (Chrome Steel).
- Widths: ¾" (1.9 cm) for SN models; 1" (2.54 cm) for SNH models.
- Voltage Options: Models are designated by voltage, available as /120 or /240 in the model number suffix.
- Dimensions and Power: Lengths range from 8" (20 cm) to 53⅜" (136 cm), with watt densities varying across the catalog. Specific combinations of length, width, and power are listed in the "To Order" table.
- Mounting Features: Type SN models feature No. 6-32 threads; Type SNH models feature No. 10-32 threads. Both types include mounting slots (5/16 x 1/2 or similar) for installation.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two families is sheath material and resulting temperature capability, alongside dimensional differences in width and thread size:
- SN Series (Iron Sheath): Utilizes a rust-resisting iron sheath with ¾" (1.9 cm) width. These models are identified by the "SN-<DIMENSIONS>/VOLTAGE" format, such as SN-910/120 or SN-3660/*.
- SNH Series (Chrome Steel Sheath): Utilizes a chrome steel sheath with 1" (2.54 cm) width and higher temperature tolerance up to 649°C (1200°F). These models follow the "SNH-<DIMENSIONS>/VOLTAGE" format, such as SNH-08/120 or SNH-54/*.
Model numbers containing asterisks in documentation indicate that voltage must be designated (e.g., insert “120” for 120 Vac or “240” for 240 Vac). Models with explicit /120 or /240 suffixes are available only at those specific voltages.
