Supported Applications

The Omega SCE-XELLP Series consists of indoor-outdoor electrical enclosures designed to house electrical and electronic controls, instruments, and equipment. These units are engineered for areas that may be regularly hosed down or subjected to very wet conditions. The series provides protection from dust, dirt, oil, and water, making them suitable for waterproof and weatherproof applications where extra interior space is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The enclosures meet specific environmental ratings depending on the industry standard selected: NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12, and 13; UL Listed Type 3R, 4, 4X, and 12; CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, and 12; and IEC 60529 IP55 or IP66. For IS3 and IS4 configurations maintaining the NEMA Type 3R rating, a drip shield is required on IS3 models and recommended on IS4 models. Drain holes are required for both standards to maintain environmental ratings.

Construction materials include carbon steel with ANSI-61 gray powder coating or stainless steel options:

• Carbon Steel: 0.125" thick body (0.104" thick door)
• 304 Stainless Steel: 0.104" thick with #4 brushed finish
• 316L Stainless Steel: 0.104" thick with #4 brushed finish

Note that a disconnect switch or circuit breaker is not furnished with the enclosure.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and industry standards to accommodate various interior space requirements. Model numbers follow the format SCE-<HEIGHT><WIDTH><DEPTH><INDUSTRY STANDARD><DISCONNECT CUTOUT>. Available configurations include:

• Sizes (H x W x D in inches): 60x49, 60x61, and 72x61 or 72x73 heights/widths with depths of 12", 18", or 24".
• Industry Standards: IS3 (NEMA Type 3R) and IS4 (NEMA Types 4, 4X).
• Disconnect Cutouts: Standard 'D1' cutout is provided; add 'U' to the model number for the universal 'D7' disconnect cutout.

Sub-panels are sold separately and match specific enclosure dimensions (e.g., SCE-60P48, SCE-60P60, SCE-72P60, SCE-72P72). Drip shields are available in gray steel or stainless steel for 48", 60", and 72" lengths.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ by physical dimensions, material composition, industry standard compliance, and disconnect cutout type. Material selection is indicated in the model number: insert 'SS' for 304 stainless steel or 'SS6' for 316L stainless steel; carbon steel models do not require this insertion.

Specific dimensional variations include:

• SCE-72X73 Series (IS3): Models SCE-72X7312LP, SCE-72X7318LP, and SCE-72X7324LP feature a 72" height, 73" width, and depths of 12", 18", or 24" respectively.
• SCE-60/72 XEL Series (IS4): Models such as SCE-60XEL4912LP through SCE-72XEL7324LP provide NEMA Type 4, 4X ratings with corresponding sub-panel options.
