Supported Applications
The SST Optomax Industrial Series consists of liquid level switches designed to detect almost any liquid type, including oil or water-based fluids. The series is suitable for industrial applications such as valve and pump control, leak detection, tank level control, overfill protection, and sump level switching.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Optomax Industrial Series operates with a maximum pressure rating of 20 bar / 290 psi. Ambient operating temperatures are available in two ranges: Standard (-25°C to +80°C) and Extended (-40°C to +125°C). Storage temperature limits correspond to these configurations, listed as -30°C to +85°C for Standard and -40°C to +125°C for Extended. The series supports power supply voltages of 4.5 VDC to 15.4 VDC or 8 VDC to 30 VDC.
Media compatibility depends on the selected housing material (Polysulfone or Trogamid®). Users must verify fluid compatibility, noting that some oil-based liquids can cause deformation of the sensing tip when using Trogamid® above +85°C. The output current is 1A max for all configurations except N-type with a 10kΩ internal resistor (-002).
Housing Specifications
- Type 2: M12x1 thread, Length 7.75 mm, Diameter 10.40 mm.
- Type 6: 1/2" - 20 UNF thread, Length 11.70 mm, Diameter 10.40 mm (includes undercut for O-ring).
- Type 7: 1/4" NPT thread, Length 33.70 mm, Diameter 19 A/F.
All housing types share a maximum tightening torque of 1.5 Nm / 13.26 in-lbs and the same pressure rating of 20 bar / 290 psi maximum.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across materials, process connections, output logic, and termination styles to accommodate specific installation requirements.
Housing Materials & Connections
- Materials: Polysulfone (Code C) or Trogamid® (Code T).
- Process Threads: M12x1, 1/4" NPT, and 1/2"-20 UNF.
Output Logic & Signal Types
The series supports multiple output configurations to match control circuit requirements. Available logic states include High in Air or Low in Air for both P-Type and N-Type outputs, as well as Push Pull options combining N&P-Types.
- N-Type with Flyback Protection Diode
- N-Type with Internal 10kΩ Pull-Up Resistor
- P-Type High/Low in Air
- N&P-Type Push Pull (High or Low in Air)
Termination & Accessories
Electrical connections are provided via Flying Leads (20AWG, 0.2mm) with a standard color code of Red (Vs), Green/White (Output), and Blue/Black (0V). A 3m cable option is also available.
- Seal Washers: Nitrile, EPDM, or VAMAC for M12 housings.
- Nuts: Zinc-Plated Brass or Stainless Steel (for M12).
- O-Rings & Sealing: O-rings required per SAE J1926-1 for 1/2" - 20 UNF; PTFE tape recommended for 1/4" NPT.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Optomax Industrial Series are distinguished by housing type, material selection, and output configuration. The Type 2 (M12x1) is available in Polysulfone with a standard operating range of -25°C to +80°C. The Type 6 (1/2"-20 UNF) utilizes Trogamid® construction for the extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The Type 7 (1/4" NPT) is offered with various output logic options.
Model numbers follow a structured guide format, such as LL L X X X 0 D 3 X X X - X X X - X X, where specific digits denote the housing type, material code, operating temperature range, and output signal designation. For example, suffix codes like "-C3" indicate the inclusion of a 3m cable.
