Supported Applications

The Omega FL-6000A Series consists of general purpose in-line flowmeters designed for economical and accurate flow rate indication. These industrial meters are specified for use with oil, water, clear fluids, and opaque fluids. The series utilizes a spring-and-piston type assembly that enables mounting in any position while providing immunity to changes in viscosity.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FL-6000A Series is engineered for severe environments with specific performance limits documented across the family:

  • Accuracy: ±2% Full Scale (FS)
  • Repeatability: ±1%
  • Maximum Pressure: 241.3 bar (3500 psig)
  • Process Temperature – Standard: 116°C (240°F)
  • Process Temperature – Optional High-Temp: 204°C (400°F) with suffix “-H”
  • Calibration Medium: Calibrated with 140 SUS (32 cSt) Hydraulic Oil

Note: Pressure drop data provided in the source is approximate for oil at low and normal temperatures. For equal water flows, add 10% to pressure.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options regarding temperature ratings, thread types, and media-specific construction:

  • Housing Materials: Aluminum body for oil units; brass body for water units.
  • Wetted Parts: 302 SS (oil units) or 302 SS spring (water units), FKM O-rings, and polyphenylene sulfide/ceramic magnetic components.
  • Process Connection: Standard connection is ½ FNPT. For units requiring BSPP threads, add suffix “-BSPP” to the model number at no additional charge.
  • High-Temperature Option: Units rated for 204°C (400°F) require adding suffix “-H” to the model number; this incurs an additional cost.

The series supports flow ranges from 0.8 to 57 LPM (0.2 to 15 GPM), with specific models designated for Oil/Specific Gravity 0.876 or Water/Specific Gravity 1.0.

Key Product Differences

The FL-6000A Series is divided into two primary model families based on the intended medium:

  • Oil Flowmeters (FL-61xxA): Models include FL-6102A, FL-6105A, FL-6110A, and FL-6115A. These units feature an aluminum body with 302 SS wetted parts.
  • Water Flowmeters (FL-63xxABR): Models include FL-6302ABR, FL-6305ABR, FL-6310ABR, and FL-6315ABR. These units feature a brass body with 302 SS springs.

All units share an overall length of 168 mm (6.6"). Dimensions for the standard temperature rating are 60.96 x 53.34 mm (2.4 x 2.1"). Shipping weight varies by medium: 0.57 kg (1.25 lb) for oil units and 1.18 kg (2.60 lb) for water units.

on 20 PSI mineral oil, whats the expected pressure drop, 3 gpm flow

Will these be damaged if you put a 5GPM and 15GPM in series to get better low and high range?

Asked by: EE1983
Thank you for your inquiry. It should be good and you must have sufficient straight run upstream and downstream between the two flow meters so that they will measure a Laminar flow, not turbulence.
