Supported Applications
The Omega FL-2000 Series comprises acrylic variable area flowmeters designed for measuring the flow of air and water. The series is documented for use in medical, industrial, chemical, and laboratory applications. Specific application areas cited include air sampling equipment, aquaculture, desalination equipment, gas analyzers, medical systems, photo processing equipment, and water treatment and distribution systems.
These meters are designed for non-hazardous fluids only; use with hazardous fluids is prohibited per manufacturer warnings.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FL-2000 Series operates within a maximum process temperature of 150°F (65 °C) and a maximum pressure rating of 100 PSIG (690 kPa). Accuracy varies by model range: models FL-2001 through FL-2025 offer ±5% Full Scale accuracy, while models FL-2031 through FL-2069 provide ±3% Full Scale. Models in the FL-2071 to FL-2128 range are specified with ±2% F.S. accuracy.
Measurement ranges span from 0.1 SCFH of Air (FL-2001) up to 4000 LPM of Air (FL-2096), and for water, from 5 CCM (FL-2018) up to 75 LPM (FL-2082). The meters feature direct reading scales in both SAE and SI units. Special scales can be provided for other gases or liquids.
Key Performance Limits
- Maximum Temperature: 150°F (65 °C)
- Maximum Pressure: 100 PSIG (690 kPa) @ 21°C (70°F)
- Ambient Operating Temperature: 21°C (70°F)
Configuration Options
The series offers a wide configuration envelope across multiple model families, including panel mount and in-line styles. The meter body is constructed from durable clear acrylic with threaded brass inserts for installation.
Fittings and Wetted Materials
- Standard Fittings: Brass fittings are standard on most models; Buna-N elastomers are used with brass fittings.
- Stainless Steel Option: Stainless steel fittings (with Viton O-rings) are available as an option for FL-2001 through FL-2069. Models FL-2071 through FL-2128 utilize 1 NPT PVC fittings only.
- Floating Elements: Floats are available in Black Glass, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, or Black Delrin.
Valve and Certification Options
- No Valve (-NV): Units can be ordered without a valve by adding the "-NV" suffix to the model number.
- Plastic Integral Gate Valve (-V): Available for specific models (e.g., FL-2071-V) as an add-on option.
- Stainless Steel Valve (-SS): A stainless steel valve is available by adding the "-SS" suffix to the model number, applicable where brass valves are standard.
- NIST Certificate: An optional 10-point NIST certificate can be added with the "-NIST" suffix (adds two weeks to lead time).
Housing and Mounting Styles
- Panel Mount / Standard Block: Models FL-2001 through FL-2069 feature a clear acrylic block design with dimensions varying by size group (e.g., 4 in to 6.5 in overall height).
- In-Line and Panel Mount Variants: The series extends to models FL-2071 through FL-2128, which include specific In Line and Panel Mount configurations with distinct dimensional profiles.
Key Product Differences
The FL-2000 Series is segmented into several model ranges that differ in accuracy class, physical dimensions, and connection sizes:
- FL-2001 to FL-2025: Smallest size group (approx. 4 in height), ±5% F.S. accuracy, with 1/8-27 MNPT fittings.
- FL-2031 to FL-2069: Medium and large sizes (up to approx. 6.6 in height), offering improved ±3% F.S. accuracy for the majority of this range, with connection options including ¼-18 MNPT.
- FL-2071 through FL-2128: Higher precision models (±2% F.S.) featuring In Line or Panel Mount styles and restricted to PVC fittings. These models support higher flow ranges, such as up to 4000 LPM of Air.

Effective little flow meter
This is an accurate, and easy to use flow meter with adjustable valve. The workmanship is good, it’s working great for my application. I did not look at other options from Omega, but it would be nice to have options on I/O locations, such as side, or end. This one had both in, and out in the back. This can make tings a little crowded to mount the unit, and set up the I/O. Overall I am happy with this unit, it is doing exactly what I was hoping for.

Excellent meter, good value.
We've been using these flow meters for about 7 years now. Have installed at least 50 in systems that we build. Never a problem.

Good, basic low-flow flowmeter
Good, simple flowmeter for low-flow applications. Not the easiest to mount well onto a panel.

What is the pressure drop of a FL-2012 (0.2 to 2.5) flow meter?
Thank you for your question?
The max drop is 3 PSI for the FL-2012

Can I use an equation to determine the flow at non-standard pressure and temperature? On another MFG's site I saw Q2 = Q1 * sqrt (P1*T2/(P2*T1)). Is that equation correct for this flowmeter?
Send us an email to flow@omega.com. We can provide correct equation on a PDF form.

Can these be used with inert gases or solely just air?
Hi, thanks for connecting with us! You can use these meters with inert dry gases other than air but you will have to correct for the specific gravity. If you need help calculating this, please contact our Flow Department at flow@omega.com.

We are using FL-2012 not with a ball float but with a conical float. Do we have to determine the flowrate by reading the center, top or bottom of the conical float?
Thank you for your inquiry! For conical floats the reading will be taken from the top
