Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series I2-2 General Purpose Immersion Temperature Sensor is designed for monitoring hot and chilled water lines throughout a building or mechanical room. The sensor features a plastic housing shaped as a standard junction box with multiple knockouts to facilitate conduit access.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a process temperature range of -32 to 240°F (-35.5 to 115.5°C). Accuracy specifications vary by sensor element type:

• Platinum RTD: ±0.6% @ 32°F (0°C)
• Nickel RTD: ±0.5°F @ 32°F (0°C)
• Balco RTD: ±0.1% @ 32°F (0°C)
• Thermistors: ±0.36°F from 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C)

The probe features a 1/4" (6.3 mm) diameter with wetted materials constructed of 304 SS. A Series IW2 Thermowell must be used on pressurized air and water lines to prevent leakage around the probe.

Configuration Options

The Series I2-2 is available in two insertion lengths: 4" or 6". The unit includes a locking screw cover to prevent unauthorized tampering with the temperature sensor. Electrical connections are made via multiple conduit holes, and the housing material is plastic.

Housing and Dimensions

The overall housing dimensions are a height of 4-1/6" [103.21] and a width of 2-1/4" [57.15]. The process connection is a 1/2" threaded connection designed to fit the Series IW2 thermowell.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by sensor type and insertion length, following the model number format I2--. For example, models ending in 042 indicate a 4" insertion length (e.g., I2-21042), while those ending in 062 indicate a 6" insertion length (e.g., I2-21062). The sensor element is encoded within the middle digits of the model number, corresponding to specific RTD or thermistor types listed above. Accessories include IW-C and Thermowell Compound.
