Supported Applications
The Rotronic HygroFlex1 series comprises universal transmitters designed for the transmission of relative humidity and temperature measurements in HVAC systems. These devices are engineered for industrial process sensing applications, available in configurations optimized for wall mounting, duct installation, or space (room) monitoring.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates across a measurement range of 0...100 %RH (non-condensing). Temperature ranges vary by version: Type S supports -20...50 °C, while Types W, D, and F support -20...60 °C. Accuracy specifications are defined as follows:
- Humidity accuracy: <± 2 %RH (10...90 %RH) for Type W & Type D; <± 3 %RH (10...90 %RH) for Type S.
- Temperature precision: ± 0.3 °C at 23 °C ± 5 K, with type S specified as ± 1 °C.
The humidity sensor response time (τ63) is 30 s for a rise from 35...80 %RH without filter; the temperature sensor response time is 4 s. Long-term stability is rated at < 1.5 %RH per year. The housing material is ABS, with an enclosure rating of IP 65 (space mount version IP30). Fire protection class for the housing corresponds to UL94-HB.
Configuration Options
The HygroFlex1 series offers configurable electrical connections and output signals tailored to specific control requirements. The transmitter types include HF120 (2-wire) and HF13x (3/4-wire). Available outputs are freely scalable analog current or voltage signals:
- Current Output: 4...20 mA
- Voltage Outputs: 0...1 VDC, 0...5 VDC, or 0...10 VDC
Power supply requirements depend on the model and output type. HF13x models support 12...28 VAC / 15...40 VDC. The HF120 supports 10...28 VDC (with a minimum of 10 V + 0.02 x load). Load resistance is limited to Max 500 Ω for current and voltage outputs.
Physical configurations include:
- Wall version (Type W): Dimensions 105 x 70 x 172 mm; weight 140 g.
- Duct versions: Type D with a 102 mm probe (dimensions 105 x 70 x 134 mm, weight 140 g) and Type F with a 300 mm probe (overall length 332 mm, dimensions 105 x 87 x 134 mm for the housing section, weight 200 g).
- Space mount version (Type S): Dimensions 86 x 86 x 32 mm; weight 90 g.
The devices are factory-adjusted and can be programmed using Rotronic HygroSoft software via a Mini-USB service interface. Options include mounting flange AC5005 for the 15 mm probe (duct version) and standard mini USB cables.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between transmitter types based on wiring configuration: HF120 is a 2-wire type, while HF13x models are 3/4-wire types. Specific model codes indicate the version and output capabilities:
- Wall versions (Type W): Include variants with or without display options.
- Duct versions: Differentiated by probe length, Type D for 102 mm probes and Type F for 300 mm probes. Model examples include HF132-DB1XX1XX (4...20 mA) and HF135-DB1XX1XX (0...10 VDC).
- Space mount versions (Type S): Designed for indoor applications with dimensions 86 x 86 x 24 mm.
Certifications include CE / EMC compatibility per directive 2004/108/EC. The electronics are not field-repairable and must be returned to the manufacturer in case of problems.
