Operating Conditions & Performance
The HF3A series measures a range of 0 %rh to 100 %rh. Temperature measurement ranges vary by mounting configuration:
- Wall mount: -40 °C to 85 °C (without display) or -10 °C to 60 °C (with display).
- Duct/Cable mount: -50 °C to 100 °C.
Accuracy specifications are defined by temperature range and mounting type. At 23 °C, accuracy is ±1.2 %rh and ±0.1 °C. For Wall* configurations, humidity accuracy ranges from ±1.7 %rh (0–40 °C) to ±3.2 %rh (80–100 °C). For Duct*/Cable configurations, humidity accuracy ranges from ±3.7 %rh (-40 to -20 °C) down to ±1.7 %rh (0–40 °C), increasing to ±3.2 %rh at 80–100 °C.
The series features a ROTRONIC Hygrometer® HT-1 humidity sensor and a Pt100 1/3 Class B temperature sensor. The initialization time is typically 5 seconds, with a measurement interval of 1 s. Display resolution reaches up to 2 decimal places. Electrical specifications include an analog output load resistance maximum of 500 Ω.
Configuration Options
The HF3A series supports multiple mounting configurations and electrical interfaces:
- Mounting Types: Wall, Duct, and Cable mount versions are available. The model number guide follows the format: HF3A - <Wiring Configuration> - <Mounting Type>.
- Analog Outputs: 4 mA to 20 mA (freely scalable), 0 V to 1 V, 0 V to 5 V, 0 V to 10 V, and 0 mA to 20 mA.
- Digital Output: RS-485 signals on screw terminal.
- Circuit Types: 2-wire (power supply: 10 VDC to 28 VDC) or 3-/4-wire (power supply: 18 VDC to 36 VDC).
- Housing & Protection: PC-ABS housing with IP65 enclosure rating.
- Sensors: Fix mounted humidity and temperature probe. The Duct/Cable versions utilize a separate probe (dimensions: 144 x 15 mm).
The devices are equipped with an NFC interface for configuration via mobile phone or computer, compatible with HygroSoft software. An optional NFC-USB-READER is available to connect the reader to a computer.

Variants within the series differ primarily by mounting style and wiring configuration:
- Housing Dimensions: Wall units measure 122 x 172 x 40.5 mm (weight: 204 g). Duct units measure 122 x 82 x 265.5 mm (weight: 226 g). Cable housing only measures 122 x 82 x 40.5 mm, with a total weight of 332 g including the probe.
- Electrical Connections: Standard units feature 1 x M12 screw terminals; HF3A-D models utilize 2 x M12 connections.
The measurement range for wall-mount units is limited due to the proximity of the probe to transmitter electronics. The full temperature range of duct mount units requires that transmitter electronics operate within their specified application range.
