Supported Applications
The Omega HVL Series Compact Fan Heater is designed for electrical and electronic enclosures, display panels, access and parking control systems, and personnel booths. The series features built-in overheat protection and helps prevent condensation and corrosion within these environments.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HVL Series operates at 120 Vac across five power levels: 100 W, 150 W, 200 W, 300 W, and 400 W. The housing is constructed from die-cast aluminum with a glass bead finish and carries an enclosure rating of NEMA 2 (IP20). A critical operational constraint noted in the documentation states: "Caution: Heater may only be operated with fan." For outdoor applications, it is recommended to double the heating power.
Heating power requirements are calculated using the formula PH = (A x ΔT x k) - Pv. The heat transmission coefficient (k) values provided for enclosure materials include Stainless Steel at 3.7 W/m²K, Painted Steel at 5.5 W/m²K, Aluminum at 12 W/m²K, and Polyester/Plastic at 3.5 W/m²K.
Configuration Options
The series is available in two physical size configurations based on wattage:
- 100/150 W models: Overall dimensions of 80 x 80 x 25 mm (3.1 x 3.1 x 0.98"); weight is 600 g (1.3 lb).
- 200/300/400 W models: Overall dimensions of 120 x 120 x 25 mm (4.7 x 4.7 x 0.98"); weight is 900 g (2.0 lb).
All units come complete with an operator's manual, mounting kit, and axial fan. Electrical connections utilize a 3-pole terminal for the heater (AWG 14 max [2.5 mm²]) and a separate 2-pole terminal (L2/N2) for the axial fan (AWG 14 max). The series holds CE, cULus, and RoHS approvals.
Key Product Differences
The HVL Series includes specific model numbers corresponding to wattage ratings:
- HVL02900: Fan heater, 100 W, 120 Vac
- HVL03900: Fan heater, 150 W, 120 Vac
- HVL13900: Fan heater, 200 W, 120 Vac
- HVL14900: Fan heater, 300 W, 120 Vac
- HVL15900: Fan heater, 400 W, 120 Vac
Dimensional differences between the two size classes include mounting hole diameters for DIN clips (ø4.2 mm / 0.16") and specific height/width measurements detailed in the specification tables.

doing what I needed
Bought this to keep Richie brand livestock water fountain from freezing here in Dakota. Probably not what the manufacture had intended, or even Omega. So far doing it's job. Internet search engines are great for this sort of need and purchase...

Is it possible to configure this heater such that the fan is always on? We plan to use it with Omega Benchtop Controllers that we already have. We would like the heater to be turned on/off by the controller, but have the fan stay on constantly.
Hi BG1119
Thank you for the inquiry. Fan is wired internally in parallel with the heater to ensure always on when heater is on. This unit does not have provision for separate connection. Please consider one of the FCH series for separate fan heater circuit.
Best regards
OMEGA

What is the amp draw on the 200W unit?
The Voltage rating is 120 VAC so the Amperage would be about 1.7 Amps.

Hi, I am planing to install this product to heat up the hot side of a Hot box measurement. The size of the space is 1m3 and it very well insulated. I would like to know if this product can be a good choice and is there anyway to adjust the heating cap.?
The HVL14900 may be useful in the application but we will need more information to adequately answer this question. You'll want to e-mail to temp@omega.com with the dimensions of the enclosure as well as the temperature your process will be at start up as well as the temperature that you wish to achieve.
