Supported Applications
The HOBO MX2300 Series are Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) weatherproof loggers for outdoor temperature and, on select models, humidity measurement. Because loggers are set up and offloaded wirelessly from a mobile device, the series eliminates the need to carry a laptop or data shuttle into the field.
- Outdoor temperature monitoring in a weatherproof housing suited to outdoor or condensing environments.
- Combined temperature and humidity logging on the Temp/RH models, including a computed dew-point channel.
- Wireless field data collection via the HOBOmobile app on a compatible mobile device.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Temperature range depends on whether a model uses an internal or external sensor. Internal-sensor models cover -40 to 70°C (-40 to 158°F), while external-sensor models reach -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F) with tip and cable immersion in fresh water up to 50°C (122°F) for one year.
- Temperature accuracy: ±0.25°C from -40 to 0°C (±0.45 from -40 to 32°F); ±0.2°C from 0 to 70°C (±0.36 from 32 to 158°F); ±0.25°C from 70 to 100°C (±0.45 from 158 to 212°F), MX2303 and MX2304 only.
- Temperature resolution: 0.04°C (0.072°F); drift <0.01°C (0.018°F) per year.
- Relative humidity (MX2301, MX2302 only): 0 to 100% RH, -40° to 70°C (-40° to 158°F); accuracy ±2.5% from 10% to 90% (typical) to a maximum of ±3.5% including hysteresis at 25°C (77°F); below 10% RH and above 90% RH: ±5% typical.
- RH resolution and drift (MX2301, MX2302 only): resolution 0.05%; drift <1% per year typical.
All models store data in 128 KB of memory (84,650 measurements, maximum), log at a rate selectable from 1 second to 18 hours, and transmit up to 30.5 m (100 ft) line-of-sight. The operating range is -40° to 70°C (-40° to 158°F), IP67 and NEMA#6, and the logger housing measures 10.8 x 5.08 x 2.24 cm (4.25 x 2.0 x 0.88 in.). Every model is CE compliant. Note that exposure to conditions below -20°C (-4°F) or above 95% RH may temporarily increase the maximum RH sensor error by an additional 1%.
Configuration Options
The five models share the same housing, memory, radio, resolution, and IP67/NEMA weatherproofing but differ in sensor type and channel count:
- MX2301 — internal temperature and RH.
- MX2302 — external temperature and RH.
- MX2303 — two external temperature channels; extends to 100°C (212°F).
- MX2304 — external temperature; extends to 100°C (212°F).
- MX2305 — internal temperature only.
Relative humidity measurement and its associated 0.05% resolution and <1% per year drift are provided on the MX2301 and MX2302 only, while the extended 70 to 100°C (158 to 212°F) temperature band applies to the MX2303 and MX2304 only.
Key Product Differences
- MX2301A — internal Temp/RH weatherproof logger.
- MX2302A — external Temp/RH weatherproof logger.
- MX2303 — dual external temperature logger.
- MX2304 — single external temperature logger.
- MX2305 — internal temperature logger.

Does this device create a log of data for the temperature and humidity? If so, where is the data storage at? On the device itself or a central storage unit?
Hello, thank you for your questions. From this series there are 2 models that can also do temperature, MX2301A and MX2302A.
They have an internal memory that can store up to 84,650 measurements.
