Supported Applications

The HOBO MX2001 is a water level data logger designed for wireless setup and download from mobile devices over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), simplifying field data collection by giving a phone or tablet direct access to water level and temperature measurements. A direct-read cable connects the submerged sensor to the top-end logger, and supported measurements span water level, water temperature, absolute pressure, barometric pressure, and differential pressure.

The design accommodates a range of deployment depths through model selection and direct-read cables that can be ordered in lengths from 0.2 m to 500 m. Sensor ends are available in stainless steel or titanium.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Water temperature is measured across -20° to 50°C (-4° to 122°F), which is also the logger operating range. Temperature accuracy is ±0.44°C from 0° to 50°C (±0.79°F from 32° to 122°F), with resolution of 0.1°C at 25°C (0.18°F at 77°F).

The barometric pressure channel covers 66 to 107 kPa (9.57 to 15.52 psia) with typical accuracy of ±0.075% FS, 0.3 cm (0.01 ft) water. Water-level ranges, calibrated ranges, accuracy, and resolution are model-specific and detailed under Configuration Options.

Construction uses stainless steel or titanium sensor ends over a durable ceramic sensor. The top end (MX2001-TOP) measures 2.54 cm (1.0 inches) in diameter and 28.9 cm (11.4 inches) in length, and the sensor end measures 2.54 cm (1.0 inches) in diameter and 9.91 cm (3.9 inches) in length. The unit is powered by two user-replaceable AA batteries and is CE compliant and FCC compliant.

Configuration Options

The five configurations differ primarily in water-level range and its associated calibrated pressure range, accuracy, and resolution. The temperature and barometric specifications above are common to the series.

MX2001-01 (and -Ti): water level approx. 0 to 9 m (0 to 30 ft); calibrated range 69 to 207 kPa (10 to 30 psia); accuracy ±0.05% FS, 0.5 cm (0.015 ft); resolution 0.02 kPa (0.003 psi), 0.21 cm (0.007 ft) water.
MX2001-02: water level approx. 0 to 30.6 m (0 to 100 ft); calibrated range 69 to 400 kPa (10 to 58 psia); accuracy ±0.05% FS, 1.5 cm (0.05 ft); resolution <0.04 kPa (0.006 psi), 0.41 cm (0.013 ft) water.
MX2001-03: water level approx. 0 to 76.5 m (0 to 251 ft); calibrated range 69 to 850 kPa (10 to 123.3 psia); accuracy ±0.05% FS, 3.8 cm (0.125 ft); resolution <0.085 kPa (0.012 psi), 0.87 cm (0.028 ft) water.
MX2001-04 (and -Ti): water level approx. 0 to 4 m (0 to 13 ft); calibrated range 69 to 145 kPa (10 to 21 psia); accuracy ±0.075% FS, 0.3 cm (0.01 ft); resolution <0.014 kPa (0.002 psi), 0.14 cm (0.005 ft) water.

The -Ti suffix denotes a titanium sensor end in place of stainless steel, offered on the 01 and 04 ranges.
