These electrodes are designed for periodic exposure to steam sterilization, making them suitable for environments requiring high-temperature operation up to 135°C (275°F). The series supports extended pH measurements in the presence of sulfides or silver complexing agents.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PHE543110 Series operates within a process temperature range of -5 to 135°C (25 to 275°F) at 25 psig. The pressure rating is specified as 500 psig @ 25°C. For pH measurement, the series covers a range of 0 to 14 pH with an accuracy of ±0.1% over full range and drift less than 2 mV per week. Response time is documented as 10 seconds to 95% of reading.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options for sensor type, temperature compensation, and installation requirements:
- Sensor Types: Available as High Temperature Insertion Type pH Electrode (PHE-5431-10) or ORP Electrode (ORE-5431-10).
- Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): The PHE-5431-10(*) variant includes an ATC sensor option. Specify 'PT100' for 100 Ω Pt RTD or '-PT1K' for 1000 Ω Pt RTD at additional cost.
- Housing and Materials: Features a durable thermoplastic (PAS) body with wetted materials including Porous PTFE, glass membrane, polymer outer body, and EPR 'O' Rings. The reference cell utilizes double junction KCl/AgCl, KNO₃ chemistry.
- Junction Technology: Equipped with double porous PTFE liquid junctions using matched viscosity electrolytes to prevent clogging in challenging media.
- Electrical Connection: Standard configuration includes a 10-foot cable with BNC connector. Impedance is listed as 125 Ω for the standard version.
An installation fitting, PHEH-51 (½ MNPT), is required for first-time installation of these electrodes.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between pH and ORP measurement capabilities through specific model numbers. The standard models are the PHE-5431-10 for pH applications and ORE-5431-10 for ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) measurements. A third variation, designated as PHE-5431-10(*), provides the same high-temperature insertion type pH electrode functionality but includes an integrated ATC sensor option.
