Supported Applications
The Omega HX15 Series consists of high-temperature relative humidity and temperature transmitters designed for remote sensing in HVAC ducts or wall-mounted installations. The series features stainless steel probes equipped with a thin film polymer capacitor for humidity measurement and a 1000 Ω platinum RTD for temperature monitoring.
Documented configurations include:
- HX15-W: Wall-mounted RH/temp transmitter with a 79 mm (3") probe and metal wall mounting clip.
- HX15-D: Duct-mounted RH/temp transmitter with a 229 mm (9") probe, removable adjustable duct flange, o-ring, screws, and gasket.
Probes are connected to the electronics enclosure via a 1 m (40") PFA cable. The series is RoHS 2 Compliant.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HX15 Series operates across an extended temperature range, with probe process temperatures rated from -40 to 180°C (-40 to 356°F). The electronics enclosure is designed for ambient operating conditions of -20 to 70°C (-4 to 158°F) and carries a NEMA 4X (IP66) rating.
Performance specifications are defined as follows:
- Relative Humidity Accuracy: ±2% RH, 3% to 95% @ 25°C (77°F); ±0.05% RH/°C for -40 to 150°C (-40 to 302°F).
- Temperature Accuracy: ±0.5°C (1°F), -40 to 180°C (-40 to 356°F).
- Response Time (RH): 30 s, 90% response, in 1 ms moving air.
- Response Time (Temperature): 4 s, 60% response, in 1 ms moving air.
The transmitters require a power supply of 7 to 30 Vdc and provide dual output signals: 4 to 20 mA for 0 to 100% RH and 4 to 20 mA for -40 to 180°C (-40 to 356°F).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable mounting options tailored to specific installation geometries:
- Housing Material: ABS enclosure.
- Probe Dimensions: 16 mm diameter; overall length of 79 x 16 mm D (3 x 0.625") for wall mount and 229 x 16 mm D (9 x 0.625") for duct mount.
- Electronics Dimensions: 55 H x 80 W x 120 mm L (2.16 x 3.14 x 4.72").
- Sensor Elements: Thin polymer capacitor for RH; 1000 Ω Platinum RTD for temperature.
- Wetted Materials: Stainless steel probe, thin polymer capacitor (RH sensor), and 1000 Ω Platinum RTD (temperature sensor).
An optional PSU-93 power supply is available, providing unregulated 16 to 23 Vdc at a maximum of 300 mA.
Key Product Differences
The HX15 Series distinguishes between two primary model configurations based on probe length and mounting hardware:
- HX15-W (Wall-Mounted): Features a 79 mm (3") stem length with a metal wall mounting clip. The electronics enclosure is mounted directly to the wall.
- HX15-D (Duct-Mounted): Features a longer 229 mm (9") probe designed for insertion into ductwork, utilizing a removable and adjustable duct flange assembly with an o-ring seal.
Both variants utilize the same sensor technology and output signal architecture. Probes are not field replaceable; replacement requires exchanging the entire unit or specific accessory parts such as wall mounting clips or duct flanges where available.

Good product
High quality. Easy to set up and calibrate. Last a lot longer than a year. I just changed one that was 4 years old. That's a long time for an accurate humidity probe.

Quality and Accuracy for a high temp environment
We needed a temp humidity sensor that could withstand a 210deg airstream. The sensor we purchased from Omega was just what we were looking for! Quality, accuracy, and ease of use were obvious from the start!

So what type of a readout does this interface with/ I just see a probe and a box? what else do I have to buy to actually read the RH%?
Thank you for your inquiry. The output of this unit is in mA. Therefore, any unit like a meter that takes a mA output would suffice to record a measurement. Please review the following link: https://www.omega.com/en-us/control-monitoring/meters/c/universal-input-meters

Is it possible for the user to extend the probe cable to 10 meters?
Thank you for the inquiry. Unfortunately the cable length cannot be extended. The humidity sensor calibration would be affected.

Do the probe cable can withstand up to 180 Degree Celcius?
Hi Jag Oh
Thank you for the inquiry. Yes, probe and cable are rated for 180 C. Please review manual for max RH values at the elevated temperatures.

Is there a CAL cert available for the factory CAL (NIST, etc)? Is this included in the listed cost?
Thank you for the inquiry. NIST traceable calibration is available as an add on option. Example part# is HX15-D-CAL-3. Please contact us by phone or email to request price and lead time.

Can duct flange probe be provided with 10 meter probe to the box ?
Hi Amit,
Thank you for the inquiry. We are unable to offer extended sensor cable for the HX15 series unfortunately.

Can the probe handle slightly elevated pressure, i.e. a few psi? Will the humidity reading be affected, and if so, is pressure compensation possible?
Thank you for the inquiry. Sensor and cable are not sealed for pressure. There would be some leakage through the cable. Sensor is calibrated at ambient conditions. Output reading is not compensated for changes in pressure.

What is the function of the RH Offset trimpot? If it is inadvertently adjusted, is there a way to reset it?
The "RH Offset" potentiometer is for 'factory' use only and should not be turned. If it is turned during the calibration process (or at any time) the unit should come back for factory calibration, as our factory has a specific procedure to get the unit back into specs using this pot along with the other ones. The field calibration procedure does not incorporate this potentiometer.

Can the electronic board be removed from the enclosure? Do you have an accurate drawing of the board so I can mount it inside my own enclosure?
Hi Vederstein
Thank you for the inquiry. I would not recommend removal of the electronics board as it provides mechanical protection of components as well as support for the board itself. The board and the sensor are calibrated as a system.
We do not have drawings available for the board and components.
Best regards
OMEGA
