Supported Applications

The Omega ACC793 series consists of high-performance, top-mount accelerometers designed for industrial vibration measurements. These sensors feature a hermetically sealed case suitable for harsh environments. The series includes models with intrinsic safety approvals available as options.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The ACC793 series operates within an ambient and process temperature range of -50 to 120°C (-58 to 248°F). A maximum current of 6 mA is recommended for operating temperatures above 100°C (212°F). The sensors provide a measurement range of 80 g peak with an output signal of 100 mV/g. Accuracy is specified as ±5% at 25°C (77°F).

Constructed from 316L SS, the housing maintains hermetic sealing to 10⁻⁸ cc/s and withstands a vibration rating of 500 g peak.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple configurations through model suffixes and accessory options. The standard electrical connection utilizes a 2-pin, MIL-C-5015 style connector with an Amphenol 97-3106A-10SL-4S type mating connector.

Model Variants

  • ACC793: Premium accelerometer with top exit connector.
  • ACC793-FM: FM-certified intrinsically safe premium accelerometer with top exit cable. Approval covers Class I, II, III, Division I, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G; and Division II, Groups A, B, C, D, F, G.
  • ACC793-CSA: CSA-certified intrinsically safe premium accelerometer with top exit cable. Approval covers Class I, Division I, Groups A, B, C, D.

Cables and Mounting Accessories

  • ACC-CB7-10: 3.05 m (10') MIL/BNC twisted-pair shielded cable.
  • ACC-CB7-10WP: 3.05 m (10') waterproof twisted-pair shielded cable.
  • ACC-B3: Magnetic mounting base for flat surfaces, rated at 30 lbf.
  • ACC-B5: Magnetic mounting base for curved surfaces, rated at 30 lbf.

Power Supply Options

  • ACC-PS2: Rechargeable power supply with built-in amplifier (operates on 18 to 30 Vdc).
  • ACC-PS3*: 115 Vac power supply.

The series includes a mounting stud and calibration data. Cables must be specified separately. A suffix of "-230" is available for the ACC-PS3 to support 230 Vac operation at no extra charge.

Key Product Differences

Differences within the series are defined by intrinsic safety certifications and accessory selection. The base model (ACC793) provides standard performance, while the -FM and -CSA variants add specific hazardous location approvals without altering the core measurement technology or housing dimensions.

Physical dimensions for all models in this series remain consistent: 61.47 mm (2.42 in) overall length with a diameter of 25.4 mm (1.0 in). The process connection is provided via a 1/4-28 tapped hole, and the unit weighs 112 g (3.9 oz).

It is not completely clear from the spec sheet how the ACC793 should be wired up.  How is it intended for the power to get in, and for the signal to get out, through the same pin?  Is there a sample circuit or application note available anywhere?

Asked by: Paul1324
The ACC793 accelerometer is part of a system consisting of the accelerometer, a cable from the accelerometer (ACC-CB7-10) to an in-line constant current power supply (ACC-PS5). You will also need an output cable with a BNC connector to connect to the device you will be using to read the signal. We do not offer the output cable.

Are the Accelerometers able to be adjusted to a more limited peak g force range? say 10g, or changing the sensitivity of the device from 100mV/g to 500mV/g?

Asked by: jerrad
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the accelerometers are not able to be adjusted. The sensitivity and hence the g range is fixed. Please contact our Tech Support if you have any future questions we can assist you with.
