Supported Applications
The Omega CL515-PLUS series is a handheld device designed for checking, calibrating, and measuring Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensors. The unit functions as an automated RTD calibrator capable of simulating resistance outputs to verify system performance.
Documented applications include compatibility with smart transmitters, PLCs, DCS systems, and multichannel recorders for calibration verification tasks.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CL515-PLUS series provides RTD measurement accuracy of ±0.05 °C (±0.09 °F) and Ohms measurement accuracy of ±0.01 Ω. Resolution is specified as 0.1 °C, 0.1 °F, or 0.01 Ω.
Measurement ranges cover:
- RTD Temperature: -200 to 850 °C and -328 to 1562 °F
- Ohms (Source/Read): 0 to 400 Ω and 0 to 2000 Ω
The device supports automatic output stepping with selectable step sizes of 2, 3, 5, 11, or 21 steps. Step times are configurable at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 60 seconds.
Configuration Options
The series features a rugged design with a protective rubber boot and a backlit display. It automatically detects electrical connections for RTD sensors configured in 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire arrangements.
Sensor Types Supported:
- Platinum 100 (α=3850, α=3902, α=3926)
- Platinum 1000 (α=3850, α=3750)
- Copper 10 & 50 Ohm
- Nickel 120 Ohm
Output and Display Options:
- Outputs in °C, °F, or ohms (simulated resistance)
- Automatic indication of connection type
- Battery symbol on display indicates low battery status
Power and Configuration:
- Powered by 4 x AA 1.5V Alkaline batteries (supplied)
- Configuration menu includes Auto Off, Backlight control, Steps selection, and Step Time settings
- Removing the batteries resets all stored configuration options to factory defaults
Key Product Differences
The CL515-PLUS series is manufactured in the USA and carries a 3-year warranty. The product holds CE approval, and Omega Engineering maintains ISO 9001 certification for facilities in Stamford, CT and Manchester, UK.

does this unit display the ambient temperature at the meter? If it doesn't, how do you know if the RTD input is correct?
Hi JimBob49,
Thank you for the inquiry. This does not display ambient temperatures. Readings are valid over the range; 73°F ±18°F. Outside of this range readings are impacted; temperature Drift: ± 0.01% of span to the operating range -10 to 140°F.
Best regards,
OMEGA

What is the input connection called? We have CL-27 Calibrators (4) and need PRT's to mate with those devices. We would entertain replacing the CL-27's gradually. The sensors we have acquired from Burns Engineering have a code LT100 but the come mis-wire
The CL27 Calibrators use the TA4F connector for RTD's and it can be found on Omega's website.
