Supported Applications

The Omega DFG55 High Accuracy Digital Force Gauge is designed for tension and compression force testing applications. The series serves as an essential component of a force testing system, typically comprising a test stand, grips, and data collection software. It supports pass-fail testing via integrated set points with indicators that can trigger external devices such as alarms, relays, or test stands.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DFG55 series covers measurement ranges from 0.12 to 500 lb (0.5 N to 2,500 N) full scale. Accuracy is specified as ±0.1% of full scale ±1 digit with a resolution of 1/5000. The gauges feature an industry-leading sampling rate of 7000 Hz for accurate results in quick-action tests.

Power is supplied by AC or an included NiMH rechargeable battery, providing up to 7 hours continuous operation with the back-light on and up to 24 hours with the back-light off. The series includes overload protection to 150% of capacity; the display shows "OVLD" at 110% and above.

Physical dimensions are 149.4 H x 64.3 W x 33.6 mm D (5.88 x 2.53 x 1.32"). Weight varies by range: 0.45 kg (1.0 lb) for ranges of 100 lb or less, and 0.54 kg (1.2 lb) for 200 lb and up.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable output signals including USB, RS232, Mitutoyo (Digimatic), and Analog Outputs. The analog output is ±1 Vdc with an accuracy of ±0.25% FS. USB/RS232 outputs are configurable up to 115,200 baud and include Gauge Control Language 2 for full computer control.

On-board data memory stores up to 1000 readings and includes statistical calculations. Integrated set points utilize three open drain lines. A large, backlit graphics LCD displays characters and an analog load bar for graphical representation of applied force.

Key Product Differences

The DFG55 series is ordered using the model number guide DFG55-<RANGE>, where capacity options include 0.12, 0.25, 0.5, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 lb (or equivalent N). Measurement units available depend on the model: lbf, ozF, gF, kgF, N, kN, or mN.

AC adapter plug styles are configured via suffixes added to the model number at no extra charge. Add "-E" for a European style plug and "-U" for a UK style plug; models without a suffix include a US style plug (e.g., DFG55-20, DFG55-100-U).

Full scale deflection is 0.25 mm (0.01") except for the DFG55-0.12 model, which has a full scale deflection of 0.13 mm (0.05"). The series carries CE approval and NIST Standard certification.

I have a DFG55 force meter and it will not come on. It starts to come on but then shuts off before booting up completely. |I have replaced the battery with a fully charged on. Please help troubleshoot.

Yes I have a model DFG55-0.12. What are the deflections needed to get a certain force measured on the device?

Thank you for contacting Omega. The full-scale deflection for the DFG55-012 is approximately 0.005&rdquo; (0.13 mm) at maximum load. For all other models in the DFG55 series it is 0.010&rdquo; (0.25 mm). Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Our DFG55-20 is working fine, but we misplaced the wall supply. Is there a part number for just ordering the supply?

How far does the hook pull out ? Do you offer any product where the hook can pull out like 1-2 feet? Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry These force gauges are only meant to be hung onto the do not pull out more then 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. We do not have a product that would pull out the distance you are requesting. Hope this was helpful.

We have 2 DFG55-20. How are the display values determined? The display doesn't change 7000 times a second (sampling rate) so it must be using an algorithm. Is it reporting an average over the time between screen refreshes? Is there filtering?
