Supported Applications

The TWA5 Series is a family of heavy-duty, self-adjusting weigh assemblies supplied complete with a load cell already installed. They are engineered for tank and bin weighing, where rugged construction and highly corrosion-resistant materials are essential for long service in industrial environments. Because each assembly ships fully assembled with its load cell, installation is straightforward and the system is ready for calibration and commissioning on delivery.

The self-adjusting design compensates for less-than-ideal mounting surfaces and for thermal movement of the supported structure, making the series especially well suited to multicell installations where several assemblies share the load of a single vessel. Carbon steel and stainless steel constructions are offered so the assembly material can be matched to the process environment.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TWA5 Series covers weighing ranges from 0-100 lb to 0-20,000 lb in standard units, with corresponding metric coverage from 0-25 kgf to 0-10,000 kgf. All measurement is in compression, and each assembly provides a 150% compression overload margin to protect the load cell against transient excess loads.

The self-adjusting mount accommodates non-parallel surfaces, being self-adjusting for surfaces up to 2°, and absorbs thermal expansion, being self-adjusting for up to ±1.6 mm. This keeps the load path aligned so readings stay accurate as the structure shifts under load or temperature change.

Every load cell is delivered with a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration performed in compression at the sequence 0%, 50%, 100%, 50%, 0%, along with 59 kΩ shunt data. The assemblies are NIST Standard traceable and RoHS compliant. Physical envelope dimensions scale with capacity; for example, the "B" dimension spans 102 to 8.50 mm across the range.

Configuration Options

Variants of the TWA5 Series differ along two axes: the assembly material and the rated weighing capacity. The material determines corrosion resistance and suitability for the installation environment, while the capacity determines the maximum weight the assembly and its integrated load cell can measure.

  • Material is selected by the model prefix: TWA5 assemblies are built from Nickel-Plated Carbon Steel, while TWA6 assemblies are built from Stainless Steel for greater corrosion resistance.
  • Capacity is encoded in the model suffix and determines the installed load cell. Standard TWA5 and TWA6 assemblies use LC501 series load cells matched to the rated capacity.

As capacity increases, the physical size and mounting hardware of the assembly scale up accordingly, while the self-adjusting behavior, corrosion-resistant construction, and 150% compression overload protection remain common to every model.

As ordering examples, TWA5-750 is a carbon steel assembly and TWA6-5K is a stainless steel assembly, each shipped fully assembled with its LC501 series load cell.
