Supported Applications

The Omega LCJA Series consists of Heavy Duty Shear Beam Load Cells designed for washdown applications requiring corrosion resistance. These sensors measure load (force) across a range from 0-500 lb to 0-20,000 lb. Each unit is supplied with an NIST Calibration Certificate and features environmentally protected construction suitable for demanding environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LCJA series operates within a temperature range of 0 to 150°F (-18 to 66°C), which also defines the compensated temperature span. The load cells exhibit an accuracy of ±0.037% Full Scale, with linearity at ±0.03% FS and hysteresis at ±0.02% FS. Repeatability is specified as ±0.01% FS, while zero balance remains within ±1% FS. Creep over 20 minutes is limited to ±0.03% FS.

Thermal effects are characterized by a Zero shift of -0.0015% FS/°F and a Span shift of -0.0008% RDG/°F. The maximum load rating supports up to 200% FS, with side load rejection rated at 500:1. Electrical performance includes a bridge resistance of 350 Ω nominal and an excitation voltage requirement of 10 Vdc (15 Vdc maximum). Rated output is 3 mV/V ±0.0075 mV/V.

Configuration Options

The series offers nine distinct capacity models, identified by the model number guide LCJA-, such as LCJA-500 or LCJA-10K. Construction utilizes Nickel Plated Steel for corrosion resistance and environmental protection.

Dimensions and Mounting

Physical dimensions vary by capacity group:

  • 500 lb to 4,000 lb (LCJA-1K through LCJA-4K): Overall length A: 5.12 in; Width B: 2.25–3.0 in depending on capacity; Thread J: ½-20.
  • 5,000 lb to 10,000 lb (LCJA-5K through LCJA-10K): Overall length A: 6.75 in; Width B: 3.0 in; Thread J: ¾-16.
  • 15,000 lb to 20,000 lb (LCJA-15K through LCJA-20K): Overall length A: 8.75 in; Width B: 4.0 in; Thread J: 1-12UNF.

Electrical and Accessories

A standard 6 m (20') 4-conductor shielded cable is included, utilizing 22-gage wire. Optional accessories include Load Buttons (LBJ-012, LBJ-034, LBJ-100), Rod Ends (REC-012M, REC-034M, REC-100M), and Mounting Plates (MFP-1, MFP-2, MFP-3). Note that mounting plates are sold separately. Compatible meters include the DP41-S, DP3002-S, DP87, and DP25-S series.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the LCJA series differ primarily by rated capacity, which dictates physical dimensions, full-scale deflection (FS DEFL), weight, and compatible accessory part numbers. Models range from 500 lb to 20,000 lb.

  • LCJA-500 through LCJA-4K: Share identical overall dimensions for the lower capacity group (A: 5.12 in) and utilize Load Button LBJ-012, Rod End REC-012M, and Mounting Plate MFP-1.
  • LCJA-5K through LCJA-10K: Feature increased dimensions (A: 6.75 in) and require Load Button LBJ-034, Rod End REC-034M, and Mounting Plate MFP-2.
  • LCJA-15K through LCJA-20K: Represent the largest size class (A: 8.75 in) with Load Button LBJ-100, Rod End REC-100M, and Mounting Plate MFP-3.

For what applications LCJA-Heavy Duty Shear Beam Load Cells can be used? What is the typical working environment?

The LCJA would be used in applications such a tank weighing applications. Their IP67 environmental rating makes them ideal for use in outdoor application or where frequent washdown of equipment is required.

Can I pass a bolt completely through an LCJA load cell at the partially threaded hole?

Which side is facing up when mounted? Spec sheet illustration is a little different than the product I received.

Hello, the product itself is symmetrical and should give you a mV output no matter what side is facing up. If you could send us a picture of your load cell to pressure@omega.com we can mark up the mounting side and send it back to you.
