Supported Applications

The Omega HH414 is a handheld temperature and humidity meter with USB data logging capability. It measures temperature using a single K-type thermocouple input (T2) and relative humidity via an included remote sensor probe (T1). The device supports off-line recording of up to 32,000 points for later analysis on a PC.

Documented functions include:

  • Simultaneous display of temperature from the K-type thermocouple and relative humidity/temperature from the remote probe
  • Data logging with real-time clock functionality
  • High/Low alarm settings for T1, T2, and RH inputs
  • Max, Min, AVG (average), REL (relative to reference), and Hold calculations
  • Tripod mounting capability via a threaded mount on the meter body

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HH414 operates within an ambient temperature range of 0~50°C (32 to 122°F) at less than 80% RH. Outside this operating window, specifically from 0°C to 18°C and 28°C to 50°C (32°F to 64°F and 82°F to 122°F), the temperature coefficient is specified as 0.1 times the applicable accuracy specification per °C.

Measurement ranges and accuracies are defined by input type:

  • K-Type Thermocouple (T2): Range of -200~1370°C (-328~2498°F). Accuracy is ±(0.3% rdg + 1°C/2°F) for the range -50~1370°C; otherwise, accuracy is ±(0.1% of rdg ±2°C) at 23±5°C and <75% RH.
  • Remote Temperature (T1): Range of -20~60°C (-4~140°F). Accuracy is ±0.6°C (1.2°F).
  • Remote Relative Humidity: Range of 0.0~99.9%. Accuracy is ±2.5% at 25°C and <70%; otherwise, accuracy is ±5%.

Resolution for the remote temperature/humidity probe is 0.1°C/°F and 0.1%. For K-type inputs, resolution is 0.1°C/0.1°F in the range -99.9~199.9°C; otherwise, it is 1°C/1°F.

Configuration Options

The HH414 series includes a fixed configuration with specific inputs and connectivity options:

  • Sensor Inputs: Single K-type thermocouple input via standard SMP type miniature connector; Remote temperature/humidity probe connected to the right port.
  • Data Interface: USB interface for data download using Windows® based software (Windows XP or above).
  • Power Supply: 9V battery. An AC/DC adaptor is available as an option; do not use both simultaneously to avoid damage.
  • Included Accessories: One K-type bead wire sensor, one remote temperature/humidity probe (180 mm overall length with 150mm cable), USB cable, black carrying case, and manual website card. Calibration certificate is available as an option.

The meter dimensions are 180 x 68.5 x 50 mm. The remote sensor probe measures 180 x 12 x 10 mm with a diameter of 12 mm and includes a 150mm cable.

Key Product Differences

The HH414 is offered as a single model number (HH414) within this series. The device features a four-variable display to show temperature from the handheld probe, humidity from the remote sensor, and K-type thermocouple readings simultaneously.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from HH414 not up to the task and a disappointment The HH414 is being offered without any choice as the replacement for the HH311 and HH314 which I have used religiously for a decade. The HH414 has proved so far to be a disappointment in many ways. There is no adjustment for the add on K type probe (T2) making it a useless reference and adding to the confusion if you use it at all. The main probe with Temperature/humidity sensor has been graced with offsets which you will find yourself looking for if you care about accuracy. The T1 reading sometimes displays hash marks for a long time when powered on as if it can't find the probe. The remote cable has a telephone style cord that is so tough it is next to impossible to use on an environment that has an inner and outer door. This remote cord should not have any re-coils on it, it should be a straight section of insulated wire so that is really can be used remotely. The HH414 also has alarms That have adjustable ranges? I don't know who thought this would be useful when the adjustment ranges were clipped at 20 or 30% short of where the instrument would be used. It's a reference so won't you be looking at it anyway? This has the look and feel of a cheaply made meter with poorly thought out bells and whistles(literally) instead of real utility, robust construction and accuracy, like the HH311 and HH314. If its not broke don't fix it with a new product unless you know what you are doing. What a disappointment.
