Supported Applications

The Omega HHAQ-108 is a handheld instrument designed for measuring gaseous formaldehyde (HCHO) concentration. It supports workplace indoor air quality (IAQ) maintenance programs and residential spot-checks. The device tracks, calculates, and displays three cumulative formaldehyde gas metrics: 8-hour TWA, 1-hour average, and 15-minute STEL.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HHAQ-108 operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) at 0 to 95% RH, non-condensing. It utilizes an electrochemical sensor that meets U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's (NIOSH's) acceptance criteria.

Performance specifications include:

  • Formaldehyde Range/Resolution: 0 to 5 ppm / 0.01 ppm
  • Formaldehyde Accuracy: ±(5% + 0.03 ppm)
  • Temperature Range/Accuracy/Resolution: 0 to 50°C (0 to 122°F) / ±1°C (1.8°F) / 0.1°
  • RH Range/Accuracy: 10 to 90% RH / ±5% of reading, typical
  • Warmup Time: 1 to 15 minutes

The instrument features a dual readout LCD with a 51 mm (2") diagonal display. It includes min/max memory and data hold functions.

Voltage & Power

  • Power Source: 4 'AAA' batteries (included) or optional 110V AC adaptor (HHB400-AC)
  • Auto Power-Off Trigger: 15 minutes of front-panel inactivity (can be disabled)

Configuration Options

The HHAQ-108 series offers specific configuration options and accessories to support field operations.

  • Housing & Mounting: Includes a tripod mount; dimensions are 210 L x 60 H x 25 mm D (8.3 x 2.4 x 1.0"). Weight is 204 g (7.2 oz) with battery.
  • Sensor & Calibration: Features one-button calibration to 0 ppm in clean air and user-adjustable high alarm settings. Manual off-settable accuracy for temperature and RH is available.
  • Display Options: Large backlit dual-readout LCD with low battery indication; measures formaldehyde ppm, relative humidity (RH), and temperature in °F or °C.

Accessories & Replacement Parts

  • HHB400-AC: AC wall adaptor (optional)
  • MN2400: Replacement 'AAA' batteries 2/pack (2-packs required)

Key Product Differences

The HHAQ-108 is the primary model in this series, described as a handheld formaldehyde detector. The unit comes complete with a soft pouch, 4 'AAA' batteries, and an operator's manual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Service Fast prompt replies with excellent timing in getting items to location considering the difficult time at present

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not So Good The unit takes a very long time to warm up then switches itself off prior to you being able to calibrate it. It also eats up batteries very quickly so you almost have to use AC power to be able to use it for any length of time.
