Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series GFT2 Flow Totalizer is a microcontroller-driven device designed to linearize the flow meter and controller flow curve. It displays instantaneous flow rate, total, and accumulated total values. The unit is intended for use with analog flow meters and controllers featuring 0 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, or 4 to 20 mA interfaces.

RS-232 or RS-485 digital communication options are available for data integration. Free configuration and mounting utility software is provided with the series.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series GFT2 operates within an ambient temperature range of 14 to 158°F (-10 to 70°C). It accepts analog input signals across three ranges: 0 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, and 4 to 20 mA. The device provides a measurement accuracy of ±0.1% FS.

Power is supplied via a 9-pin female 'D' connector requiring an input voltage between 12 to 26 VDC. Users must not apply power voltages above 28 VDC or connect external voltage sources directly to the output signals. The unit weighs 0.3 lbs (125 g) and features dimensions of 3-13/32 in [86.36] height, 3 in [76.2] width, and 47/64 in [18.8] depth.

Configuration Options

The series supports configurable analog input types and serial communication protocols via specific model codes (e.g., GFT2-05-RS232). The display resolution is 0.51" (13 mm) LCD digits for flow rate and 0.21" (5.5 mm) digits for total.

Available output signal configurations include:

• Analog Setpoint Output: Configurable as 0 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, or 4 to 20 mA via J2 jumper settings (J2A, J2B, J2C).
• Digital Communication: RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces.

Maximum load impedance for setpoint outputs varies by configuration:

• 0 to 5 VDC output: ≤1000 Ω
• 0 to 10 VDC output: ≤5000 Ω
• 4 to 20 mA output (self-powered, non-isolated): ≤900 Ω

The series offers mounting accessories including the GFT2-20C flow controller mounting kit with power supply, A-645 flow controller mounting kit without cables, and A-646 flow meter mounting kit without cables.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series GFT2 are distinguished by their analog input range and serial communication protocol. Model numbers follow the format GFT2-<Input Range>-<Serial Communication>. Specific configurations include:

• 0 to 5 VDC Input Models: Available with RS-232 (GFT2-05-RS232) or RS-485 (GFT2-05-RS485).
• 0 to 10 VDC Input Models: Available with RS-232 (GFT2-10-RS232) or RS-485 (GFT2-10-RS485).
• 4 to 20 mA Input Models: Available with RS-232 (GFT2-15-RS232) or RS-485 (GFT2-15-RS485). Note that the 4 to 20 mA current input is a passive, non-isolated signal requiring a 249 Ω resistor.

The device includes optically isolated outputs which require an external DC voltage application across terminals (2V < UCE < 40 V; 0.2 mA < ICE < 150 mA). The Series GFT2 is not intended for use in life support applications or where malfunctioning may cause personal injury.
