Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model FCLS Flush Capacitance Level Switch is designed for level measurement of liquids, powders, and bulk solids. The probe-less design supports installations where space is constrained or where material flow and buildup could damage a traditional probe. Typical uses include triggering an alarm signal or closing a filler inlet.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within specific environmental limits defined by the specification table:

  • Ambient Temperature: -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C)
  • Process Temperature: -4 to 176°F (-20 to 80°C)
  • Pressure Limit: 285 psi (19.7 bar)
  • Enclosure Rating: IP65
  • Power Consumption: 2 W

The unit features a side-mount orientation with no moving parts, ensuring operation without jams or wear.

Configuration Options

The Model FCLS series offers configurable electrical and mechanical parameters to suit specific process needs. Key capabilities include:

  • Sensor Technology: Flush capacitance with no probe design.
  • Wetted Materials: 304 SS (Stainless Steel) for the sensing surface; PTFE insulation materials.
  • Housing: Aluminum, painted enclosure rated IP65.
  • Process Connection: 2.5" - x 5 kg/cm² JIS flange.
  • Electrical Connections: Screw terminals with 2 x 1/2" female NPT conduit connections.
  • Switch Output: SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) relay contacts rated at 3 A @ 250 VAC.
  • Sensitivity Adjustment: Adjustable from 1 to 20 pF.
  • Time Delay: Configurable from 0 to 6 seconds.
  • Fail Safe Mode: Selectable fail high or fail low operation.

Key Product Differences

The series is identified by the model pattern FCLS-<MODEL VARIANT>, with the standard variant listed as FCLS-01. The device requires a horizontal mounting orientation, and the mounting wall thickness should not exceed 0.98" (25 mm). Power requirements are specified as 110 or 220 VAC.

Per manufacturer warnings, the Model FCLS is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned to the factory. Field repair attempts may void the warranty.
