Supported Applications

The Omega EchoPro® LR41 is an intrinsically safe, two-wire pulse radar level transmitter designed for continuous non-contact measurement of dry solid media. The series targets applications involving aggregates, grains, pellets, powders, and building materials in environments with moderate to significant dust conditions.

Documented application contexts include silos, stockpiles, transfer stations, and crushers where the sensor provides a 4-20 mA current output proportional to media level. The LR41 is specifically engineered for solids applications requiring measurement ranges up to 229.7 feet (70m) with moderate dust interference.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The EchoPro® LR41 operates at a frequency of 26 GHz, providing a maximum measurement range from 12" to 229.7' (30cm to 70m). Measurement accuracy is specified as ± 15mm with an automatic temperature compensation feature.

Performance parameters include:

• Process Temperature: F: -40° to 752°, C: -40° to 400°
• Ambient/Storage Temperature: F: -40° to 176°, C: -40° to 80°
• Pressure Rating: Atmospheric
• Dead Band: 12" (30cm) factory set; can be lowered to 2" from the bottom of the antenna.
• Beam Angle: 8° for the standard configuration (-5_21-4).

The unit features an IP67 enclosure rating and utilizes a non-volatile memory system. Signal output includes fail-safe options at 3.9 mA, 20.5 mA, or 22 mA.

Configuration Options

The LR41 series supports configurable mounting types, antenna sizes, and process connections to accommodate specific installation requirements:

• Mount Type: NPT thread (Code 0) or ANSI flange (Code 3).
• Antenna Size: 4" (98mm) horn (Code 4) or 4" (98mm) horn with dust shield/PTFE cover (Code A).
• Mount Size: 1-1/2" NPT (Code 0) compatible with Mount Type 0; 4" gimbal flange ANSI (Code 4) compatible with Mount Type 3.

The housing material is 316L stainless steel with a silicone gasket. The antenna material options include 316L or 316L & PTFE depending on the configuration code (-5_21-4 vs -5_21-A-00). An optional air-purge fitting supports 1/4" (6.3mm) I.D. tubing for significant dust conditions.

Electrical connection is provided via a single 1/2" NPT conduit entrance. The device operates on a supply voltage of 21.6 to 26.4 VDC with a maximum consumption of 22.5 mA. Configuration and monitoring are available through an integral LCD dot matrix display module or HART communicator.

Key Product Differences

The LR41 is distinguished within the EchoPro® family by its specific application envelope for solids with moderate dust, contrasting with other models in the series:

• LR36 vs. LR41: The LR36 supports a maximum range of 49.2 feet (15m) and is intended for normal temperature/pressure conditions under 32.8' (10m). The LR41 extends the range to 229.7 feet (70m) and addresses solids with dew, dust, or crystal formation under 98.4' (30m).
• LR46 vs. LR41: While sharing a similar maximum range of 229.7 feet (70m), the LR46 utilizes an 8" parabolic horn (5° beam) or 10" parabolic horn (4° beam) and is designated for strong dew, dust, crystal conditions, or ranges over 98.4' (30m).

Approvals include ATEX II 1G Ex ia IIC T6...T3 Ga, IECEx ia IIC T6...T3 Ga, and CSA Class I, Div 1 Groups A, B, C & D; Class II, Div 1 Groups E, F & G. The series also holds CE, RoHS, and FCC certifications.
