Supported Applications
The Omega OS210 Series comprises compact, non-contact infrared (IR) temperature sensors and transmitters designed to measure the surface temperatures of inaccessible or moving objects. The series is suitable for monitoring materials including food, paper, textiles, plastics, leather, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, rubber, coal, and asphalt. These units are not intended for use in human applications.
Engineers should note that while compatible with the listed media, these sensors feature a fixed emissivity of 0.95 and are not suitable for materials with low emissivity, such as polished metals.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The OS210 Series measures target temperatures across three ranges: -20 to 100°C (-4 to 212°F), 0 to 250°C (32 to 482°F), and 0 to 500°C (32 to 932°F). Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±1% of reading or ±1°C whichever is greater, with a repeatability of ±0.5% of reading or ±0.5°C whichever is greater.
Key operating parameters are:
- Spectral Response: 8 to 14μm
- Response Time: 240ms (90% response)
- Ambient Temperature Range: 0°C to 70°C (32°F to 158°F). For ambient temperatures above 70°C, an air/water-cooled housing is required.
- Relative Humidity: 95% maximum non-condensing
- Enclosure Rating: IP65
The sensor requires a power supply of 24 Vdc (maximum 28 Vdc) with a minimum excitation voltage of 6Vdc. The unit features an M16 x 1mm pitch thread mounting and includes a standard 1m cable.
Configuration Options
The series is available in four distinct field-of-view configurations to accommodate different target sizes and distances:
- OS210 Series (2:1 Field of View): Models OS211-LT, OS211-MT.
- OS150 Series (15:1 Field of View): Models OS151-LT, OS151-MT, OS151-HT.
- OS300 Series (30:1 Field of View): Models OS301-LT, OS301-MT, OS301-HT.
- OS800 Series (Close-Focus / ø5mm @ 100mm): Models OS801-LT, OS801-MT, OS801-HT.
Output signals are configurable as:
- 4 to 20 mA: Standard linear output (Maximum Loop Impedance: 900 Ω).
- 0 to 50 mV: Voltage output.
- Thermocouple Outputs: Type T, Type J, or Type K thermocouple signals. Models with these outputs also provide a secondary sensor temperature output of 4-20 mA for internal monitoring.
The housing is constructed from stainless steel (18mm diameter x 103mm length). Options include an air/water-cooled jacket (-WC suffix), which must be ordered at the time of purchase and cannot be retrofitted. Extended cable options are available up to a maximum total length of 30m but are not field installable.
Key Product Differences
Variants within this series differ primarily by their optical geometry (field of view) and the specific temperature range supported for that geometry. The OS210 Series supports only Low Temperature (-20 to 100°C) and Medium Temperature (0 to 250°C) ranges, whereas the OS150, OS300, and OS800 series support High Temperature (0 to 500°C) configurations.
Model suffixes denote output type: no suffix indicates a standard 4-20 mA target temperature output; -MV denotes 0-50 mV; -T, -J, or -K indicate Type T, J, or K thermocouple outputs respectively. The series offers optional NIST-traceable calibration (CAL-3-IR) and accessories including fixed mounting brackets (OS210-FBS), adjustable mounting brackets (OS210-ABS), laser sighting tools (OS210-LSTS), and air purge collars to protect the lens from smoke, fumes, or dust.

Bought a 2 wire 4-20mA Temperature sensor, got it with safest packaging possible and timing was also great.
Sensor itself is simple and easy plug and play device, no hassles or complications on installation.

Highly Accurate and Exceptionally Sturdy
The OS211-MT is an impressive piece of equipment that delivers excellent performance. The build quality stands out immediately, as the unit feels incredibly sturdy and durable enough for long-term use. In terms of functionality, its accuracy is spot-on and highly reliable, which is exactly what you need for this type of product.The only minor drawback is that the 24V supply voltage requirement is a little bit high for certain setups. However, this power requirement does not take away from its overall performance. It functions perfectly and lives up to expectations. I highly recommend it based on its strength and precision.

Works great!
I bought these sensor in conjunction with some FDC temperature controllers and they work great on the rice parchers they were installed on. We will be purchasing more after season to convert the remaining 16 parchers to no touch temperature monitoring. Very happy with these sensors.

Hello, What does this response time mean? Is it the time that is required to power up? Our test sample is moving fast (~5m/s). Can this sensor take an accurate temperature measurement within 60ms period? thanks
Thank you for your inquiry. This sensor has Response Time, t90: 240 ms (90% response) which is defined as the time required to reach 90% of an instantaneous temperature change.

Hello, For the non-contact temperature with 4-20mA output for the low temperature model (OS301-LT), is there an online reference curve/values showing signal to temperature values? Thank you

I saw in the documentation that it could "be ordered with a longer cable attached." What other lengths are available?

We looking for ice temperature sensor. (OS-301-LT) The sensor should be installed at 20 feet from the target. With 30:1 ratio the spot size is still good. Does it can read up to 20 feet away?

I'm looking for a non contact temperature sensor that can read up to 10feet away. It also has to read clear liquid. Do you offer a sensor that would work? It needs to be outdoor rated.
