Supported Applications
The Omega TX900 Series consists of field rangeable miniature 2-wire transmitters designed for mounting in a protection head. The series supports thermocouple (Types J, K, T, E, R, S), RTD (100 Ω Pt RTD, 2- or 3-wire), millivolt, and volt inputs to convert sensor signals into a standardized output.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The TX900 Series delivers an accuracy of ±0.1% FS (includes effects of linearity, hysteresis and repeatability) with a response time of 3 dB @ 3 Hz. Units operate within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 85°C (-13 to 185°F). The series supports the following input ranges as documented:
- Thermocouple: J (0 to 760°C / 0 to 1390°F), K (0 to 1370°C / 0 to 2500°F), T (0 to 400°C / 0 to 750°F), E (0 to 835°C / 0 to 1515°F), R (0 to 1700°C / 0 to 3100°F), S (0 to 1760°C / 0 to 3210°F)
- RTD: TX904-1 (0 to 260°C / 0 to 500°F) and TX904-2 (0 to 538°C / 0 to 1000°F)
- Millivolt: 4 to 64 mV
- Voltage: VTX906-V1 (0.04 to 0.64V), VTX906-V2 (0.4 to 6.4V and 4 to 64V)
Storage temperature is rated from -65 to 125°C (-85 to 257°F). The output signal is 4 to 20 mA dc with a load resistance of 0.020 Ω.
Power and Electrical
The series requires a power supply of 9 to 35 Vdc, with 24 Vdc recommended. Factory settings for standard models include TX901 Type J (0-500°F), TX903 Type J (0 to 500°F), TX904-1 (0 to 300°F), TX904-2 (0 to 500°F), and TX905 (0 to 50 mV).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable isolation, input types, scaling options, and probe assemblies. Isolated models are available for thermocouple inputs.
- Housing Dimensions: TX901/TX904: 1.90 H x 4.45 cm D (1.75 x 0.75"); TX903/TX905/TX906: 2.9 H x 4.45 cm D (1.13 x 1.75") including barrier strip.
- Probe Options: NB1 thermocouple probes and PR-12 RTD probes are available with a 30.5 cm (12") insertion length, 1/4" OD diameter, ungrounded junction, and 304 SS sheath.
- Scaling: Factory scaling is supported via the TX-SCALED option code; users must specify input type, low end of range, high end of range, and °F or °C units.
Note: For non-isolated units, ungrounded probes are required. Thermocouple model output is proportional to mV output of the thermocouple and not linearized to temperature unless scaled by Omega. R or S thermocouples require special order contact with custom engineering.
Key Product Differences
The TX900 Series distinguishes models based on input type, isolation status, and voltage range:
- TX901 / TX903: Thermocouple inputs (J, K, T, E, R, S). TX901 is non-isolated; TX903 is isolated.
- TX904-1 / TX904-2: 100 Ω Pt RTD input (a = 0.00385), non-isolated, with different range capabilities.
- TX905: Millivolt input (4 to 64 mV), non-isolated.
- VTX906-V1 / V2 / V3: Volt inputs covering ranges from 0.04 to 0.64V, 0.4 to 6.4V, and 4 to 64V respectively; all non-isolated.
The series includes a 5-year warranty. Additional power supplies are available via omega.com.
