Supported Applications

The Dynament FGD10A is an explosion-protected fixed gas detector designed for the detection of Oxygen, Toxic gases (e.g., CO, H2S), and Flammable hydrocarbons in potentially explosive atmospheres. The series features ATEX Flameproof certification for use in Group IIC hazardous locations.

The unit is configured with plug-in replaceable gas sensors to monitor specific media including:

  • Oxygen (0-21% vol)
  • Toxic gases: Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide
  • Flammable gases via Pellistor or Infrared technology
  • Carbon Dioxide via NDIR Infrared sensor

An optional Weather Guard is available for installations exposed to the atmosphere or contaminants.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FGD10A operates within an ambient temperature range that varies by sensor type, typically -20°C to +50 °C. Specific hazardous area certifications define operating limits as T4 (Ta = -20°C to +60 °C), T5 (Ta = -20°C to +50 °C), and T6 (Ta = -20°C to +35 °C). Note that T5 & T6 ratings are not valid for versions fitted with an externally mounted sensor.

Performance specifications include:

  • Accuracy: ±3% of full scale for oxygen; ±5% of full scale for toxic gases
  • Resolution: 0.1ppm (EC Toxic < 50ppm), 1-12ppm (EC Toxic 50-1000ppm); 10ppm to 1% depending on CO2 range; 0.1% volume for Oxygen
  • Humidity: 0 to 95% RH non-condensing
  • Enclosure Rating: IP68 (Instrument Body), IP65 (Sensor)

The unit consumes a maximum of 5 Watts and is powered by 12 to 24 volts dc.

Configuration Options

The FGD10A series supports a broad envelope of sensor technologies and measurement ranges. The instrument body is constructed from Aluminium Pressure Die Casting or Stainless Steel 316, with the Sensor Insert made of Stainless Steel Grade 316.

  • Hydrogen Sulphide (Electrochemical): 0-50ppm, 0-100ppm, 0-200ppm
  • Oxygen (Electrochemical): 0-21%

Key Product Differences

The FGD10A model includes a 4-digit, 7-segment liquid crystal display and is configured via a 4-button magnetically operated keypad. Calibration can be performed using the included magnetic pen without removing the cover.

A non-display version of this series, designated as the FGD10B, is available separately (see separate data sheet TD18/022). The FGD10A includes three control relays for Alarm Level 1, Alarm Level 2, and Fault outputs via individual changeover contacts.

Certification details include IECEx SIR 08.0009X (Code Ex d IIC) and SIRA 08ATEX1031X (Code Ex d IIC), compliant with standards EN 60079-0:2018, EN 60079-1:2014, and EN50270:2006.
