Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TTE Explosion-Proof RTD Temperature Transmitter is designed for hazardous temperature measurement applications. The series supports use in refrigeration, building automation, commercial hot water heaters, boilers, and water chillers.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitter measures process temperatures from -30 to 250°F (-34.4 to 120°C) using a Pt1000 sensor (DIN 0.00385). Accuracy is specified as Transmitter ±0.1% FS and Probe ±0.3% FS, with thermal drift effects of ±0.02%/°C max. The device operates in ambient conditions from -4 to 158°F (-20 to 70°C) and features a response time of 250 ms.

Configuration Options

The Series TTE offers configurable temperature ranges via an internal dip switch, including seven pre-programmed options or a user-settable range between -30 to 250°F with a minimum span of 40°F. The series supports the following configurations:

  • Output Signal: 4-20 mA (2-wire loop powered) on a power supply of 10-35 VDC.
  • Housing & Enclosure: Weatherproof NEMA 4X (IP66) and explosion-proof. Listed with FM for Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C and D; dust-ignitionproof for Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F and G; and Class III atmospheres.
  • Approvals: ATEX Certified (CE 2813), IECEx Certified, UKCA Ex Certified, and FM approved. Certificates include EU-type certificate No.: EMT17ATEX0021 X, IECEx Certificate of Conformity: Element IECEx EMT 17.0007X, and UKCA Ex Certificate of Conformity: EMA22UKEX0066X.
  • Process Connection: 1/2" male NPT or 1/2" male BSPT with wetted materials in 316 SS. The probe stem length ranges from 2" to 18" depending on the model, and the pressure rating is 2000 psi (137.9 bar).
  • Electrical Connection: Terminal block with 6 terminals; conduit connection via 1/2" female NPT or M20.
  • Display Option: Optional 2 lines X 8 character LCD display is available on select models (e.g., TTE-104-W-LCD).

Pre-programmed Temperature Ranges

The following ranges are selectable via dip switches 2, 3, and 4:

  • 40 to 90°F (4.4 to 32.2°C)
  • -20 to 140°F (-28.9 to 60°C)
  • 0 to 100°F (-17.8 to 37.8°C)
  • 30 to 240°F (-1.1 to 115.6°C)
  • 32 to 212°F (0 to 100°C)
  • 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C)
  • -30 to 65°C (-1.1 to 18.3°C) — Note: Source lists this range with mixed units as printed.

Key Product Differences

The series includes models with and without the optional LCD display, indicated by the "-LCD" suffix in part numbers (e.g., TTE-104-W vs. TTE-104-W-LCD). Stem lengths vary from 2" to 18", corresponding to model codes such as -04 through -18. Units without a specific '2' suffix following the base series name are noted in documentation as not being directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) Compliant for use in potentially hazardous atmospheres in the EU, though they may be CE marked for other directives.
