Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 1000E is an explosion-proof diaphragm-operated pressure switch designed for industrial environments requiring hazardous location protection. The series features a negative rate Bellville spring-augmented diaphragm mechanism, enabling control in any mounting position while preventing contact chatter. It is UL listed for Class I, Groups A, B, C and D; and Class II, Groups E, F and G.

Specific media applications include steam service when configured with a pigtail siphon and Type 3 (FEP) diaphragm. The series supports general pressure monitoring where high over-pressure protection is required up to the burst limit of 3000 psig (206.7 bar).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 1000E operates within a temperature range of -30 to 170°F (-35 to 77°C), with a maximum case ambient temperature limit of 170°F (76.7°C). The switch offers seven fixed operating ranges, from 5-40 psig (0.35 - 2.76 bar) up to 200 - 1400 psig (13.78 - 96.46 bar).

Performance characteristics include a pressure limit of 3000 psig (206.7 bar) and fixed deadband values that vary by range, starting at 2.5 psig (0.17 bar) for the lowest range and increasing to 90 psig (6.2 bar) for the highest range. The electrical rating supports a SPDT snap switch with capacities of 15A @ 125/250/480 VAC resistive, or 0.5A @ 125 VDC and 0.25A @ 250 VDC.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across pressure chambers, diaphragm materials, and switch options to meet specific process requirements.

Wetted Materials Configurations

• Aluminum Pressure Chamber: Paired with a polyimide (polyamide) diaphragm. Model examples include 1003E-A1-J through 1009E-A1-J.
• 316 SS Pressure Chamber: Paired with an FEP diaphragm for corrosive or steam applications requiring a pigtail siphon. Model examples include 1003E-B2-J (or B3 per manual) through 1009E-B2-J.

Note: Deadband is approximately 10% larger when using the 316 SS diaphragm configuration compared to standard values listed in the operating ranges table.

Electrical and Mechanical Options

• Housing: Weatherproof, die-cast copper-free aluminum enclosure rated explosion-proof. Hermetically sealed switch options are available.
• Connections: 1/4" female NPT process connection; 1/2" male NPT conduit connection for electrical wiring.
• Wiring: Includes three 18 AWG, 18" (460 mm) color-coded leads: N.O. (yellow), N.C. (black), and common (red).
• Adjustment: Internal thumbwheel set point adjustment with visible scale.

Model numbers follow the pattern [Range Code]E-[Material]-J, where the range code corresponds to the operating span (e.g., 1003 for Range No. 3, 5-40 psig). The "J" suffix denotes a single SPDT snap switch action.
